    What is your INR target?

I have a St Jude aortic as well, my target range is 2.0 - 3.5. It usually sits around 2.4 - 2.9. I haven't had a dosage change in nearly 2 years.

A Couple of Drinks While on Warfarin, How Much is Okay?

Erm, I have, in the past, given the alcohol/warfarin - INR question a serious workout. I have never seen a change in my INR in the days after drinking more alcohol than any of you have confessed to. I don't drink like that any more, in case you were wondering.

AVR, low INR, and aniety/panic attacks

I've been there. And I know how scary it is. What helped me was therapy. Seeing a psychologist and talking about my fears. I went for weeks where I was afraid that I would not live out the next half hour. I couldn't stand being on my own as I was terrified I would pass out and nobody would find...

    Downside of pacemakers?

Thanks guys, I was just having a moment, I guess. You both nailed it, without the PM I would not be here at all, so I should be thankful (which I am!) and live my life to the best of my ability. Worrying doesn't solve anything, I know that too. Head down, bum up, as we Aussies say; get on with...

    Something New on Echo Report:

Best I can figure, from reading that link, is that a Chiari network is something that about 2% of people have and is related to patent foramen ovale, which I believe is failure of a normal hole in the heart to close as it should after birth. It is believed not to cause much of an issue in most...

    Downside of pacemakers?

I know there are a few of us who have PMs in due to heart block that resulted from valve surgeries and the like. I was in serious denial when they put mine in and didn't ask a lot of questions at the time. So I guess I just assumed that the little zap would do the work of my damaged pacing node...

Lexapro? Update to Question for you thread...

Good on you. I had a lot of trouble with anxiety and depression after my surgeries, even ending up in hospital thinking I was dying. I wish I had been medicated then. I went onto Lexapro after injuring my back and having to quit my job last year. It did not affect my INR, but I had a test after...

Post surgery heart block going away? Might be happening to me 10 months post-op!

Wow, you are lucky! After my AVR 5.5 years ago I am still 100% pacemaker dependent. I don't think mine is coming back.

'severe' tricuspid regurgitation, but no symptoms?

That's what I am hoping he will do. Which reminds me, I need to get on the phone and make sure he is getting the report from my PM clinic visits.

'severe' tricuspid regurgitation, but no symptoms?

I haven't had a TEE since before my last surgery. I guess depending on what is on the TTE films further investigation might be required. I phoned today, the receptionist was going to call the Dr and see if things can happen sooner. He is only in my town Mondays and Fridays.

'severe' tricuspid regurgitation, but no symptoms?

I had been thinking about phoning to put the hurry-ups on but didn't think it would get me anywhere. But with your prompting I will do it today.

'severe' tricuspid regurgitation, but no symptoms?

My latest echo report had the rather alarming phrase 'severe tricuspid regurgitation'. But I have no symptoms. I actually feel better than ever, I have heaps of energy. I have a pacemaker, and apparently one lead goes through the tricuspid valve and can cause regurgitation. Mild to moderate is...

*sigh* Medical professionals with no idea...

Well, I had the biopsy done today, and guess what, I didn't bleed to death  Two tiny spots where the needles went in. No bruising or anything. Doctor said he didn't see anything that worried him, so hopefully that will be that dealt with now.

    Full Sternal Opening.....

I've had two, with the last being 5 years ago. I haven't had any problems at all with sternum pain. Except if the cat stands on my chest and puts all her weight on a wire or something. She's a pretty fat cat!

describe your intake of greens and how important you think it is

Two things - the only two things - I have found that make any profound change to my INR are the way I make up my dose (as in, half a 5mg plus a 1mg, Vs one and a half 2mg tabs alternated with two 2mg tabs), and extreme changes in my activity levels. For three years I worked a job where the...

*sigh* Medical professionals with no idea...

I am a Coumadin 'lifer' and I like to think I am pretty informed about life on warfarin. I have to have a fine needle biopsy done on a cyst in my breast... a scar from being bitten by a horse, but they want to make sure there is nothing sinister lurking. When I booked it I was asked if I was...

    Going off Warfarin

I've been on it five years and no side effects, I eat what I want and ride my ponies and run around after my kids. I do get some excellent bruises, sometimes with no idea how I got them, all it takes is for a chicken to peck my leg and I get an nice black spot under my skin. I use arnica cream...

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you :-)

    What happened to warfarininfo.com?

Oh :( That's a shame. So much good info was on that site. Thanks for letting me know.
