multi vitimin and coq10 and inr levels

I'll disagree with Dick on the multivitamin issue & Vit K. The one I take has 50 mcg Vit K and I take a 100 mcg Vit K supplement. This helps to stabilize my inr dosing as my levels of Vit K remain more consistent than it would otherwise. The important thing is consistency.

    Protein & Other suppliments

When it comes to supplements, particularly herbals, you should google the name of the supplement and warfarin to find out if there are issues. Keep in mind that many, many products will indicate some type of interaction - a lot of it is CYA. However, if you find some interactions in the products...

    Heparin Questions

Hi Katie, Actually, it isn't 'just' Heparin - that is used by IV in the hospital. You will be using the injections of enoxaparin - brand name is Lovenox. There's a generic available. It's a replacement, sort of, for warfarin. It works in a different way to prevent clots so it isn't detected by...

    Babies

Katie & Leigh, If you want some additional 'real-life' info, you should search the forum for pregnancy and warfarin. Just make sure you are aware of all the info out there... and don't be afraid to challenge your doctors. Good luck to both of you.

Ads on VR.org Poll: what do you think?

I guess if Hank needs the ad revenue (which I'm sure he does) I have no problem with valve manufacturers advertising. I would prefer the other manufacturers to have ads as well - let the patient (customer) do the research of all the valves and then weigh that info with the doctor's opinion in...

Same Type machine +/- .5 inr?

If you really want to get a good batch of blood for a test you could try what I did the other day. I was cutting some fabric and tried to cut the tip off my finger. Yes, the bleeding stopped biy I still have it pressure bandaged. It probably would have liked a couple of stitches but we were...

That's bizarre! Maybe he should just switch to fudgsicles instead. lol Glad they figured it out and hope the a-fib disappears soon.

Question about dosage pre and post surgery

I would agree that the dosage pre & post will be approx the same... but not at first. Because the recovery takes time it will be some weeks before she's back up to speed. While that's occurring, I would expect testing to be more frequent.
