Well here I am back at Barnes Jewish Hospital

Good luck John79t.I just finished with pneumonia of the left lung in the 5th week of pre op.Was on antibiotics (levaquin) for 10 days and through my INR levels out.Jumped from 2.5 to 3.9 and then back to 3.0 when I cut my dose down for a few days. The coughing is a killer on the ribs and sternum.

Frustrated with Alberta Provincial health care system

Bdryer I told you what you need to do.Call the local news station and tell them to meet you at the entrance to the hospital. When they arrive fall to the ground clutching your heart.Getting all this on film may move you to the head of the line.

    DRIVETOPLESS/ Tracy UPDATE

Why is it that women seem to recover faster and smoother then men? Is it because they get nicer pillows? Mine was abour 8 inches square and 2 inches thick, more like a posatge stamp.

    Mechanical Valve Question

I also have a St Judes Mechanical valve and I am quite happy to have it.I am 210 pounds and I could hear it when it was first new. When we got home it was hard to tell if I was hearing my valve or my wife walking across the hardwood floors.I am 8 weeks post op and do not hear it.

mechanical or tissue valve and an active lifestyle?

My choice was mechanical for an aortic valve replacement. The reason I took mechanical was because I only wanted to do this once.Taking coumadin for me is a small price to pay to be alive and also not to have to undergo another major surgery.
