    Surgery date!

All the best mrfox. I hope you don't get delayed by post-op complications, and especially that you don't get bumped off the list. My fingers will be crossed for you ! Geoff

    Bisoprolol. Any fellow takers/sufferers ?

That's good to hear. I simply don't know whether my Bisoprolol was meant to be temporary or not. Perhaps my GP visit tomorrow will help. Geoff

    Bisoprolol. Any fellow takers/sufferers ?

I guess your beta blocker is at a totally different strength per mg. Bisoprolol comes in 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10 mg. I'm merely on 2.5 at the moment. I will be seeing my GP tomorrow, although nominally for a diabetic check-up. I'm sure he'll be aware of my concerns before I leave ; ) Geoff

    Bisoprolol. Any fellow takers/sufferers ?

I returned home from hospital 6 days ago. I have felt far tireder than I did on the ward. My first thoughts were that it's one of the two anti-biotic tablets I'm on. That course finished on Friday, and my tiredness persists. Ony on Saturday morning did I think let's see what the internet has to...

    Message from the other side

In my previous post I stated that on Day 11 I was put on IV antibiotics. My notes reveal that I also developed a cough then. This took ages to go away, but did so before I came home. On Day 13 I was given an echo (to check my heart and valve) and an ultrasound to check for possible pleural...

    Message from the other side

My time on HDU was where I first heard about heart block. This is a common if temporary complication following AVR. This is what held me on HDU. It's when the heart's electrical signals are interrupted and abnormal. This usually resolves within a week. It could also be referred to as pacing...

    Message from the other side

I agree that my extended stay was exceptional. Without giving away spoilers, I gather about 1 in 15 develop my post-op complication, with an added complication on top of that. I spent two and a half weeks on the ward, and saw post-op patients come and go (home). Geoff

    Message from the other side

I'l start my account of my three weeks and two days in Harefield Hospital. Arrived on Friday 25th May. Overnighted. Prepared early as first on the list. Went down about 8.20, and spent about 20 minutes awake in the anaesthetic room, before the 'put to sleep' injection. My next memory is waking...

    Message from the other side

Hi everyone I'm back today Monday 18th June, having spent 3 weeks and 2 days in hospital post-op. It's a long story, but the op went well. Post-op was a different matter, but I'm too tired to share that now. Will update you just as soon as I feel less tired (possibly tomorrow morning). For now...

At least I got to see the Air Ambulance !

At least I got to see the Air Ambulance !

Stand down guys. When I got back from Harefield on Friday there was a missed call on the home phone : Withheld Private Caller, which over the last month has meant Harefield. There was no message left. This morning a call from Scheduling at Harefield. Bumped yet again by two emergencies. My...

At least I got to see the Air Ambulance !

Well Mr Fox, I hope I'm not unsettling you with my experiences. The staff at Harefield are all lovely, and I saw a lovely pre-op nurse specialist called Heather, who I then liaised with as my 'fitness for surgery' was worked through. Yesterday when I was bumped, a nurse said this can happen to...

At least I got to see the Air Ambulance !

Just like Jack Nicholson's character in The Shining - I'm back ! Bumped again. This time got to 12.30 pm, and awaiting my wheeling down to theatre, the Bed Manager appears and informs me I'm going home :Face-Angry: What the actual .... !! It appears the first operation overran, and there...

At least I got to see the Air Ambulance !

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. I have been offered a cancellation - go in TODAY for op tomorrow. I still have to ring at 2 pm to confirm bed availability. I'm hoping now that my next post will be from the other side ! Geoff
