    Steve

I stopped in after a very long absence on the very day of Steve's surgery and have been checking in daily since. So sorry to hear about the bumpy start and sending wishes for smooth sailing from here on in. On behalf of myself and the many others you have so warmly welcomed here, all the best...

    Why radiologist won't say anything?

I've learned to peer over the echo tech's shoulder and read the numbers on the screen for myself, but I'm not the patient and not lying on the table! She will never interpret anything for me, but if I ask her what the LVdd is she'll tell me, and then I compare the number with what it was the...

    Decreased Exercise Tolerance

It has been eight months since his last echo. I hope that things haven't worsened a lot in that amount of time. Michelle, he said he is a little short of breath much of the time, lying down and standing up. And Eva, thanks so much for your thoughts. Matt is intrigued by the thought that he...

    Decreased Exercise Tolerance

I talked to Matt today, and he said that he is feeling short of breath but thinks it is due to lack of sleep, an irregular eating schedule (skipping breakfast) and being dehydrated. He says he is going to change his ways and then call the dr if it doesn't improve. I don't get short of breath...

    Decreased Exercise Tolerance

Hi Lyn, have been thinking about you guys and hope Justin is doing well. I know what you mean about getting them to stay hydrated. "OK, Mom, yeah, sure, fine, I'll drink enough." This particular episode happened after not too much, but vigorous, running at night--it was "glow in the dark"...

    Decreased Exercise Tolerance

Thanks Al and Phillip. It's nice to hear from you, hope you are doing well. I need to spend some time catching up here to see how everyone is doing. For sure I think, and what I told Matt, is that his lack of physical conditioning is most likely all (or almost all) there is to the story...

    Decreased Exercise Tolerance

Matt is in his first year of college and loving it. We haven't thought much about his heart in the last year other than around his yearly cardio appoint, which showed things to be pretty much stable--a little increase in LVdd, but not much. For those that do not know us, he has a BAV with...

    Happy Birthday francie12 (58)

Thank you, dear VR friends! It has taken me a full month to respond due to health problems--a ruptured eardrum following a plane flight and terrible vertigo lasting for weeks. At least it temporarily cured my habit of too much internet! The initial vertigo attack landed me in the hospital...

    Justin update

I've been thinking about you and Justin (posted on his carepage) lately, hoping his sternum was OK and he was doing well. Great to get this good news. Even though Matt's LVdd creeped up a little this last echo, we're still calling it stable, so we're also feeling good. Now if I can just stand...

*sigh* can't get my husband's primary to take him seriously

Hi Samantha, Sorry I didn't see this sooner, but sounds like you have it all covered. Our son's pediatric cardio ordered echos for the whole rest of the family (dilated aortas turned up in two of us). For anyone reading this with a similar prob, you might try asking him/her to do the ordering...

Happy birthday, Everyone! (Lyn, the fifties decade is the best one yet, and I'm not alone in thinking that. Hope you enjoy it!)

    Yearly Check Update--Intraventricular Conduction Delay?

I called the cardio, and he said that Matt has always had this "non specific intraventriclular conduction delay" because of the dilated left ventricle, and that it's nothing to be concerned about. He said they don't always put down everything on every report. Glad to put this aside! He acted...

Sammy just had his "six month" check up on the 3rd

Sending big hugs. I'm totally with you guys on trading places--how much easier it would be if we could! If it were me having the surgery I'd be worried, but that would be nothing compared to this. I try to remember that kids are resilient, and when they recover from their surgeries (faster...

    Good News!

Great news, Jen!! I'm so happy for you and Andrew. Sounds very similar to ours. Let's just stay with this kind of news for many years!! I have some words of encouragement from a few years ahead age-wise. As you know, when Matt was first diagnosed, and for several years, his measures went...

    Yearly Check Update--Intraventricular Conduction Delay?

Hello everyone! An update and a question following Matt's yearly cardio appointment and echo. Basically things are still looking fairly stable even though there was a slight increase in the LVdd measure this year. All the AO measures stayed the same (yay!), and still no real symptoms other...

Normal chest x-ray but 7cm echo?

Dr. Griepp has an awesome reputation. I'm pretty sure he is connected with Arlys and the Bicuspid Aortic Foundation. If you go to their site I think you will find his name among doctors involved with it. Best of luck.
