Bicuspid Aortic Stenosis valve 0.7 sq cm and a large ascending Aortic aneurism Help

Graham: The big question I have is how big is your AA. Mine was 4.5 cm when discovered. It was 4.9 when I first saw my surgeon four months later. He wanted to operate in two weeks, we waited a month, 5.0 is surgery ASAP. Wise to check your daughter out especially if she has a murmur.BAV run in...

    Hello.

Welcome Summer: I too have an ON -X Valve. I choose it. Been 29 months come next Tuesday. I home test with the Couguchek Xs meter. Recently, my INR range target was lowered from 2 to 2,5. It is now 1.8 to 2.2, The FDA approved the valve for 1.5 in April.

One Week Until The Big Cut!

Best of luck Lawdog. I am now 29 months post op. I am doing just fine. I only occasionally hear my On-X valve. I have been home testing my INR for just over a year now. (Coaguchek XS). My original target range was 2.0 to 2.5. My new range is now 1.8-2.2 lowered because of this past April's ON-X...

    mechanical valve noise

Immediately after surgery I was more aware of the sound. Now, occasionally very late night if I wake-up I may hear It. But for the most part I do not. Admittedly it was a concern pre-surgery once I decided that a mechanical valve was the right choice for me.

surgeon robbed me of my MV choice

sharky7- I agree with epstns- there may have been a medical reason for the switch...I too would have been angry if I woke up without my chosen valve. All valves whether mechanical or tissue...save your life......but you wanted an ON-X...and got a St Jude. My guess is that there are more St. Jude...

    Coumadin-Lovanox-Colonoscopy

I am going in for a routine colonoscopy on 5/12. Going on a Lovanox bridge once Coumadin is stopped. I also had a bowel resection in 08 due to diverticulitis bursting. This is my first colonoscopy since that surgery and my heart surgery. I am curious as to other experience with colonoscopy...

AVR 4/23/15 - Tissue or Mechanical

Indy Tom: It is a very personal choice....plus and minuses to both... however they both save your life! I started out thinking tissue. But for many reasons went mechanical. Coumadin not a problem. I home test..consistently in range.

    Valve choice for young man

I have a friend who got a St. Jude Mechanical when he was 18. That was in 1980. He is happy with his choice. I just passed 2 years with my ON-X valve. I home test with a CoagucheckXS. meter. Coumadin has not been a problem. I am consistently in range 2.0 to 2.5.

2nd OHS in 3 years for AVR scheduled for 3/31/15

Sorry to hear of your need for second OHS. I just passed my second anniversary with my ON-X valve. I home test with the CoagucheckXS. meter. My INR is stable in my range of 2.0 to 2.5. Makes sense to stay with a tissue valve due to your bleeding incidents. Best of Luck on Tuesday!

Does insurance generally cover home testing?

I am blessed...my insurance covers everything...including an RN delivering it and teaching me how to use it. All my supplies and Coaguchek admin fees are covered.. Been home testing for just about a year. I am consistently in my range of 2.0 to 2.5. Keystone Health Plan East is my insurance.

Valve choice when combined with an aorta repair - does this change the equation?

I did my research and when my surgeon asked me which way I wanted to go...I said the On-X Valve with the attached graft.
