I am 5 months post op today. I was sick a lot the first 2 months, but have not been sick at all since. I take a daily vitamin which I think helps the immune system. I would say that I am sick less than I was before surgery or that I've noticed no difference.

Welcome back, Wanda. Take it easy and pace yourself and you'll be doing more soon. I've noticed a worsening of my vision and the need for stronger reading glasses since surgery, but that could be natural progression as I'm 47.

All of us On-X valvers should check back in in about 4 years. When I was choosing valves, ATS wasn't mentioned by surgeons. My choices were St. Jude or On-X.
