    Accu-Chek Safe T Pro Lancets

Oh interesting... Ill have to double check my actual packaging. If that's the case then service that provided them to me is kinda dumb... in which case I will for sure let them know. I spoke with them yesterday and explained that the needles are very hard to use to get a good blood sample. They...

    Accu-Chek Safe T Pro Lancets

Just started receiving some new (to me) lancets from Coaguchek as my previously provided giant box of them ran out. The new ones are purple and white and you can click different settings on the side for needle depth. I HATE THESE THINGS! Even on the deepest setting I can’t hardly get a decent...

How Long Does it Take for the Sternum to Heal

Oh wow, no way. Force yourself to sleep flat on your back, at this point it makes a difference! If your sleeping on your side I imagine that pain is very much to be expected. You’re putting a lot of stress on your sternum that still very tender, clearly. Don’t do it! Once you’re fully healed...

    Marijuana and Blood Thinners/Mechanical Valve

I thought I read that warfarin was discovered as a result of cows that had ingested moldy clover and bled to death as a result. That discovery was what led to its use as rat poison.

Wow, you did better than I did. I was still in a good deal of pain and not feeling very strong when I got home.

    Just curious

Apparently any prior echo and even a heart Cath all missed my aneurysm and it wasn't spotted until my prep CT scan. Not sure how that worked out, but that's how it went for me.

    Marijuana and Blood Thinners/Mechanical Valve

Weed doesn't have to be smoked, so I imagine you can get your THC without damaging your cardiovascular system

    Had AVR performed 2/25/21

Ive had my On-X going on 6 years now. I used to maintain between 1.5 to 2.0 for like the first four years. No issues at all. But my cardiologist decided to up my range, something about some studies he read. So he now has me maintain between 2.0 and 2.5. I didn't argue even though I didn't agree...

Any recent On-X valvers in here?

Thats kind of a shame. But I did wonder what it must cost them to make the rings.

What factors enhance surgical outcome and recovery

I take magnesium daily. It’s seemed to help calm irregular beats pvc/pac but things “for me” drastically improved when I started taking B12. Thought maybe it was a fluke and stopped taking it. Irregular beats came back. Went back on and have ever since. Now I swear by the B12. Very regular...

    Surgical survival rates...

And what the heck is limbo? Especially if your subconscious thinks you’re dead...

    Just curious

I had an aortic aneurysm that had to be removed and replaced with a graft or replacement of artificial tubing basically, replacement pipe.

    Had AVR performed 2/25/21

Yeah I don't know what exactly they do to your arms but my shoulder is still kinda messed up five years later. It doesn't help that my natural tendency is to sleep on my left side... Its just a constant pain Ive grown used to I think.

    Just curious

My valve replacement was initially scheduled to be a minimally invasive procedure whereby the surgeon was going to make a small horizontal incision between two ribs (don't recall the name of that approach) and leave a scar not much more than a couple of inches. Later when it was found out I also...

Apologies for redundancy: Has anything been proven to slow aortic stenosis ? Lower Lp(a)

When I was first diagnosed with a bicuspid valve and aortic stenosis, my cardiologist at the time decided to put me on a Calcium Channel Blocker, which is a blood pressure med, not sure what other benefits it may have. He felt strongly that would prolong the life of my valve. That was many years...

    Surgical survival rates...

But if you lay down on the table and they stop your heart and stop your breathing... for hours... what are you if not dead?
