Surgury Prep - Insurance is crazy

Do you mean they authorized two days? If so, the expectation is that a case management nurse will call and give them clinicals at the two day mark and they'll no doubt approve more days. It's their way of making sure you aren't in the hospital longer than needed, which is a good thing both...

That is true, but it was also true before you started taking Warfarin. A motorcycle accident will almost guarantee some bleeding, warfarin or not. My son, who isn't on Warfarin, has had two accidents - one caused by him and one not. The first one caused quite a bit of road rash and oozy...

    Alternative to Warfarin

Is it a reaction to the dye or the warfarin itself?

    Severe Regurgitation and Blood Pressure

I've had high blood pressure since I was a teenager, both the 22 years when I had severe regurgitation and 26 years post surgery. It runs in my family. Your type of high blood pressure is called isolated systolic hypertension because only your top number is high. That can be due to valve...

    Hair color changed after surgery?

Mine too, but it has been 26 years, so I guess that's to be expected!

    Alternative to Warfarin

True, but I'm not sure he followed the link and the part about kale was important to his response.

How often do you plan on having an accident? I ride with my husband and never even think about it. I also don't think about it when I'm driving my car, riding my bicycle, or riding my e-bike. I've hiked hills and mountains, tubed rivers, ridden roller coasters, zip lined, and did iFly (indoor...

    Alternative to Warfarin

The rest of my statement that Pellicle didn't quote was ...unless you load up on kale, so yes, if you significantly increase your intake of leafy greens, it is more likely to affect your INR. I have days where I eat spinach, others where I eat broccoli, others where I each cauliflower and don't...

    Alternative to Warfarin

But the truth is that diet really doesn't affect INR all that much...unless you go crazy with kale!

Tissue valve longevity: Can it last longer under certain lifestyle conditions?

I'm guessing you have a strong, slow heart rate, which can help tissue valves last longer.

That's possible, Pellicle, but I test on different days to try to catch it and since I've been on this dose for about a month, I haven't caught any wild swings. 26 years on Warfarin. I know what I'm doing.

    Alternative to Warfarin

Almost 26 years on Warfarin. Call me old school, but even if there were options, I wouldn't change. I know Warfarin, I understand Warfarin, Warfarin & I are friends.

It's been many years since I was a member of this site. I was Lisa in Katy then. Anyway, I'm doing good, but decided to come back due to my recent trouble with finding XS strips. I had no idea that eBay wouldn't be selling them anymore, so had a bit of a panic. Anyway, I'm back because I...

Where are you getting your supplies?

Since I haven't been on a forum in many moons (I was one of the original members of this group, but left several years ago), I wasn't aware that eBay wouldn't be selling supplies anymore. When I couldn't find anything, I feared it was going to be like my first monitor - the INRatio, which ended...
