    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

Hang in there. Don’t borrow trouble worrying about tests and notes. Personally I did not look at any of my labs or tests while in hospital. Hubs reviewed and tons of stuff was out of range / sketchy but we both think, we don’t know how to interpret this in these specific circumstances. Hubs...

    Time for mitral valve replacement

Hoo boy well at least he has the energy to pace?? My hubs had to go get a snack - he was so antsy when we were waiting on pharmacy and transport. I’m like dude, you KNOW this takes hours to get discharged. Go get a donut and let me regulate my own emotions in peace. lol.

    Time for mitral valve replacement

Woo hoo day 10 post op and I am headed home. There was a bit of drama when I developed yer another rhythm problem post pacemaker (atrial tachycardia) but that seems to have resolved with just some metoprolol. Wearing clothes and waiting on final meds and transport. I felt very prepared for...

12 week update: Work in process

I’m still here in hospital working out issues, not uncommon right. Work through one problem at a time is my motto. No need to pre solve or run a million scenarios that won’t happen and where I’m not the decider either.

    Cardiac Ablation for Intermittent Arrhythmia

Thanks for the kind prayers 3mm. “Button” is a little tongue in cheek. In order to shift the routine on the pacemaker from the regular heart block program to this other program they just need to program the change and lay the provider’s pacemaker management device on top of my pacemaker and they...

    Cardiac Ablation for Intermittent Arrhythmia

Going through some of this myself. I just had a Maze procedure ablation as part of my open heart surgery, hopefully to prevent the return of afib or it becoming permanent. So far so good, but now a few days post op while still in hospital developed atrial tach. The first EP guy who came...

    Post Operative Cognitive Dysfunction

Holy crap I literally can’t imagine that. Before cell phones I wore a wristwatch on each hand each of which had 3 alarms just to remember to pick up my kids or whatever. And paper planner and lists always at my side.

    High NTpBNP levels after surgery

Lasix should help. My FIL had BNP over 20k during his last hospital stay due to heart failure (which I hope you know that while not a party, is a chronic condition livable and treatable - I sure didn’t I thought it meant sudden death when I first encountered it) and also he has pretty bad...

Surgery 4 to 6 weeks away!!

Wishing you the best! I just had surgery a week ago. I would just say that at whatever point the post surgical days seem really rough that I was astounded at the difference between day 3 and day 5 post-op and astounded again at day 5 and day 7 (today). Stay ahead of the pain! Helps so much...

    Post Operative Cognitive Dysfunction

You mean you guys used to function without writing everything down? 🙂 My memory has always been ****. Maybe that’s why I’ve noticed zero mental changes since OHS lol. Hasn’t held me back any in life. I have systems out the wazoo to get through every day. Hit me up if you first timers need any...

    Erratic heartbeat after surgery

I had surgery on 10/16 - mitral replacement, tricuspid Repair, maze procedure for afib and left atrial appendage clip. Kind of on the INR crazy train myself. I developed heart block after the surgery so I still have the temporary pacer (doesn’t bother me at all) and will need a permanent one...

    Time for mitral valve replacement

Ya know that moment post surgery when you’re trying to go to sleep and suddenly realize you have no pain at all???? Paradise. 🙂 Thanks for the reassurance Nelle!

    Time for mitral valve replacement

Looks like I’m gonna be in the hospital a couple more days. Developed heart block so they need to put a pacemaker in.

    Time for mitral valve replacement

Got the chest tubes out and that’s a game changer for sure. A lot less pain. Have some av block, still on heparin pump but INR is coming up. It’s good to rest more comfortably.
