    My surgery was in Calgary, Dr. A. Maitland, in May. I saw a cardiologist only twice before the operation. Dr Cooper here in town handled my recovery, mostly on my own though.     For those with a mechanical valve

    Mine seems louder at night in the quite as well. I, however, do not find it a bother, rather a comfort. The noise reminds me to appreciate the extra years I have been given.

    Miles mom out of surgery

    Thanks to all for the well wishes. I am pleased to report that Mom got out of surgery yesterday at 7 pm, almost 6 hours long. Although she is having some pain issues, she is out of recovery and into the icu. MIles

    No driving, or lifting for six weeks..I returned to work after nine weeks to no restrictions other than common sense really. I hope that helps..Miles

    I am nine years post op, AVR and aorta replacement so I still remember the the ordeal. My mother is scheduled for a quad bypass and avr at 1.30 pm Monday. She will be 86 years old in May of this year. Hope all goes well...Miles
