    PLEASE: Metformin help

Hi! I hope you all are doing well. I haven't been on for quite awhile, but I still have so much gratitude for all of you for getting me through that very,, very tough 1st month with my husband's surgery. This question really has more to do with me and I did do a search and couldn't find it...

    Tovah update 3,000

I thank all my friends here again. We just got a call from the ER for the culture test for UTI. It came back negative. My husband continues to have problems and we made an emergency appointment with a urologist, as he has to pee about every 40 minutes and is woken every night repeatedly. I...

    Tovah update 3,000

I'm sure you're all pretty sick of me right now, however, the hits just keep on coming. When my husband was in rehab, he cut his finger. It never seemed to heal, so he went to the doc and got some antibiotics. It was still bad, so he got another round of antibiotics. During this time, he...

    Tovah update with gratitude

Thanks, Greg and Agility. One other thing we think might be causing this is that his blood sugar was extremely high. I think they were giving him insulin in the hospital and then was stopped? Not sure. Any of you have blood sugar issues after surgery?

Hello & Thanks from a New Member!

I just wanted to welcome you, Sean. This is a wonderful group. I'm still fairly new to all of this, so not much expertise yet, but the people on this board are the very best.

    Tovah update with gratitude

Thank you all so much for taking the time and giving such thoughtful replies. Well, the insomnia kindof paled to what my main concern now, which is that my husband is so very fatigued, doesn't feel like himself, sweating and joints painful. We got into the cardiologist, which many of you said...

Main problem now - severe insomnia

Thank you for all your thoughtful replies. I guess that the reason that I'm mainly worried is because in the rehab hospital, he hit his finger on the edge of a metal object which then became quite infected. We did go into the er and they prescribed antibiotics. His finger in that spot is...

Main problem now - severe insomnia

I'm afraid that I'm overreacting. There was so much condescension on the part of the cardiac docs.. I think because of the great difference in my husbands age and mine. He's back asleep AGAIN and I don't know what to do. Plus, tomorrow, he's supposed to have an eye exam and see his...

Main problem now - severe insomnia

Thank you all. I have put in a call to his cardiologist. They seem so laissez-faire with everything. (perhaps because my husband is 75?). Anyway, I've been told that I will get a call back within 24 hours. Bryan, I'm so sorry for all you went through, however, why would it take them 4 months...

Main problem now - severe insomnia

Thank you! I agree that it's possibly endocarditis. He had some kind of fungal infection in a finger a couple of weeks ago. Took antibiotics. Would that be enough to cause endocarditis?

Main problem now - severe insomnia

They were unable to fix his mitral valve which was severely calcified. Do you think the symptoms are possibly from this?

Main problem now - severe insomnia

Thank you all for your help...again. I'm much more worried now about the fact that he is constantly fatigued and the falling, having trouble with dizziness when getting too quickly. Last night, he fell twice when trying to move in bed. Should I be concerned at this point? Get him into the...

Main problem now - severe insomnia

Thank you all so much. I do feel that it is somehow related to anxiety. For the last few days, although my husband is 10 weeks post-surgery,he almost feels like he has some flu-like symptoms. He said that he feels he is regressing. He is unsteady on his feet and when he wok up this morning...

Main problem now - severe insomnia

Hi all, To all my friends on this board that helped me during this time, I thank you so much. As you may recall, my husband had a number of problems after his valve surgery and little by little, they are going away and he is feeling very well. We are so grateful to all of you for your good...

    aortic valve replacement

Gary and Debbie, I wish you all the best. When my husband was in the hospital for valve replacement and bypass, I was so tired and anxious and after all day at the hospital, I would come on this forum and these are the nicest people in the world. They encouraged me, gave me strength and really...

Tovah update 4 and almost all is well

To all my new friends on this site: Again, many thanks for all the encouragement, prayers and advice. We are now on, I believe week 6 since my husband's open heart surgery. Thankfully, we are now at the boring stage of him just trying to get his strength up. Cognitive development is good and...

Tovah's update 3 with great thanks to all of you!

Thank you all so much! I intend to return what was done for me by all of you and be a source of encouragement and, hopefully, some day, I can help someone else sleep at night as you all have done for me. My best wishes to all of you. Tovah
