It's My 5 year Surgerversary!

Five years ago today, I was just going into the O.R. at about this time. I was in there for 6 hours or so, but I didn't wake up until 2:30 AM!

My surgeon told me this mitral valve repair would last me the rest of my life...so far, so good. That should be encouraging to those who have recently had a repair or are still in the "waiting room".

There's hope for me yet! My own "valversary" is in almost two weeks and I can hardly believe it. I'm grateful to still have my "native valve" too! I hope that in 2011 I'll be posting about my own successful 5-year anniversary of my mitral repair!

It is very encourging to hear your good news since I am in the waiting room for a potential mitral valve repair. And it is especially helpful to hear right now because I am scheduled for my one year echo on Monday, June 4 and my 6 month cardio visit Wednesday, June 13. I always get a little crazed right before these 2 biggies. Ughhhhh! I wish I could learn to de-stress a little.

I think I was one of the first "repairs" here on this board, so I thought I'd let y'all know how it's working out so far. I had an echo done a couple of months ago, and never heard a word. I usually go in an ask them for a copy of it, I didn't this time, but I assume they would have let me know if there was a problem.
