Hi to all of you! My St. Jude Valve just turned 2 years old. Just want to ask the experienced ones here whats their status physically at this time? You know like exercise, diet, work, etc. Pls take time to pitch in your replies. Tnx.

Not sure if you meant just the St. Jude Valvers or all, but anyway wanted to say congrats to you. I, too, am a little over two years post-op and had an excellent check-up with my cardio today. I exercise regularly (walk the dog, though she went on the DL today) and try to control my carbs. Portion control is my main challenge -- too much appetite! But at least I've avoided weight gain and actually peeled off a few pounds, though need to shed 15-20 more. I am semi-retired but have some part-time work.

Hope all continues to go well for you. Let us hear more from you.

Cheers,

CONGRATULATIONS on your 2ND anniversary!!

Hope you celebrated appropriately ;).

i used to lift weights and play basketball before surgery but am very wary to try to be active again. So i concentrated a little bit on work (im a used car dealer). As a result im gaining weight again. im at 170lbs at 5'7". I seldom walk and my only exercise is my stationary bike for 25 minutes about 4 times a week. I think thats not enough. I like to go back to lifting weights but only light weights bec thats where i can control my weight. I tried playing ball again (whole court) but easily got winded. What do u think guys? By the way tnx to all the replies. Pls reply again.

You sound like your simply out of shape. The weight gain is enough to make you winded. Try to put 6 weeks worth of fast walking into your day. 15 minutes here and there. See how you feel after 6 weeks. If lifting is your thing, check with your Doc and go back to it also.
