I'm just refreshing the last post Zipper2 made in regards of her upcoming echo as she is very concerned what the outcome may be.

Well long story short i went to Edmonton short notice for Dec 4th
had an ultra sound done on my 2 valves and looks like aortic mech
as i said before could of been changed in Jan when my mitral was done

Due to 17 years of wear and tear i may need it done another ultra sound
scheduled for Jan 11th ......So pray the decision then will be made to
change out or keep this 17 year old valve till it totally wont run anymore

I'm feeling good and have more energy than I've ever had, even hubby
would like to steal some of my energy,so having the mitral surgery
and going through 2nd surgery has proved to be a bonus on my part
after all,i have bouts of sob but that of course is the arotic slowly
acting up.
I really can't wait for a 3rd time to fight the train, but if i have to then
i have to but it wouldn't have been much fun to have it done in Jan
if the high risk factors for me then didn't mean death

I'm told I am just a separate valve replacement person, separate surgery
separate valves 1 by 1 at a time.
So we will see what this great Lord has in store for me in 2010 and I really
wanna stress no matter how many surgery's you have be 1 ,2 ,3 or 4 the
anxiety level, the fear, your mind rolling after a 1st surgery you just did
this and a 2nd surgery you'd be a pro but let me tell you all no matter
how many times you did it,the wait each time is worse in all of the whole
open heart scenario I just did this and im waiting again it doesn't matter if
u had surgery 30 yrs ago and again within 30 yrs or 10 yrs or 1 yr
were all human and the same wait @ fear happens no matter the time
frame and that's were god comes in @ takes it all away,or you drive your
self silly worrying

Been thinking about you Deb and pray everything does go well on Jan.11
Remember your strong and tough and you have everyone here on your side.

Dear Deb,

You will be in my thoughts & prayers every step of the way! I was told basically the same thing as you when I went in after having the 34-year old aortic valve swapped out & then just a year later, to find out that the old mitral valve was now acting up & it needs to be replaced.

And after hearing the cardio & the surgeon tell me just how high the risks were due to all the scar tissue they'd have to cut through, girl, all I wanted was to go home & let the good Lord decide for me when it's time.

Perhaps with medications, strict diet & just taking better care of yourself, you can wait it out too.

I had to make a lot of changes in my life Deb, with one of the biggest changes, quitting my job after 20 years. That was a hard decision to make but it was also the BEST decision I ever made for myself! :)
And although my life is NOT completely stress free, because of the business we have, working from home & at my leisure, is a whole lot easier on this mended & fragile heart.

So, I'll be saying lots of prayers for you & keep the faith. That's what keeps me going & I know it will do the same for you! :)

Deb,
Certainly keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that you can get more time with this valve so you don't have to go through another OHS anytime soon!
Blessings,

Oh! I'm glad I logged on in time to pass my wishes for the best possible info to come from your echo to you, Deb. :) May that old valve hang on, if only by a thread for another few months at least. You deserve the chance to enjoy your new-found energy from the latest before you need to prepare for the next.

Take Heart, my friend... Even though yours is scarred and wobbly, it's still one of the fullest and most warm hearts I have ever had the priviledge of being acquainted with.
Pamela.
