here is the report I promised. I have been on Zetia for more than a year. Had a lipids test about 2 wks ago.

Total Cholesterol: 237 Normal Range: less than 200

Triglycerides: 330 Normal Range: less than 250

HDL cholesterol: 53 Normal Range: above 40

LDL cholesterol: 118 Normal Range: less than 100

Dr's note: continue Zetia and watch diet.

Not too bad considering. Maybe no sweets because of triglycerides #s?

My mother-in-law has also gone the zetia route, I think with similar results. Her doctor recently gave her another medicine (don't remember the name) to take in conjunction with the zetia that is supposed to boost zetia's effectiveness. At least right now is has no muscle pain. Best wishes to you.

Thanks for sharing. I go for my lipid test tomorrow after a year of being on reduced dose of Pravachol. (40 down to 20) Since the 40mg of Pravachol was causing muscle problems and the 20 wasn't reducing the numbers enough (total down to 240), my pcp suggested adding Zeita last year. I resisted and opted to stick with the 20mg of Pravachol and work on diet. Anxious, to see if it has gone down any more- if not, maybe I will consider just Zeita. My legs are much better, but I still get foot cramps now and then.

Just an update on Zetia and diet. Last June, I added Zetia to the 20mg of Pravachol that I was taking and also have strived to lose 16 pounds since then. Got the results of my blood work today:
CHL 163 down from 239
HD 42 was 43
LDL 90 down from 152
Triglycerides 155 down from 279

Not sure if it was the Zetia or the weight loss that produced the results, but I'm a happy camper! :)

thanks for the report - maybe we can keep this thread going so that we can gather some history for Zetia use because I am sure others are going to come along and ask questions. I am due for another lipids soon and I will report, too.
