I don't want y'all to screw up your bank accounts, so write 2006 in the date line in the first 5 or 10 checks in your check book. By the time you have written that many checks, you will be used to writing 2006. You're welcome.

Great idea Ann.
It is usually February before I start writing 2006 on checks and papers, and then only about 50% of the time!

Question?

Question?

Will tomorrow be another Bank /Post office closed? I wrote all my checks for utility bills last week..in case the P.O. will be closed tomorrow. Wonder how many late-charges there will be for people planning on mailing their's tomorrow. Utility bills are the only ones I used checks for. Love my debit card..:) groceries, Wal-Mart, ect..Bonnie

Don' t forget postage going up...

While you are at it, don' t forget postage going up. I am not sure exactly when but it is really soon. With the mail not even back to normal yet, I surely do not need my bills coming back for insufficient postage.

Banks and post office are closed here tomorrow, Bonnie. I'm like you; I love my debit card. I write very few checks anymore; that's why it takes me so long to change the date to the new year (lack of practice!).
Praline,
I think the new postage prices are in effect starting Tuesday. I tried to mail everything last week so I could use my old stamps up, but I'm still stuck with a few.:(

I pay all my bills on-line, can't remember the last time I actually wrote a check. I am sure I will botch the first one I write if something comes up.

I forgot about the postage thing - just opened a new roll of stamps at the fire house so I guess we will be using a lot of 2 cent stamps for awhile. Have some old stamps at home but don't do much mailing either so........

Shouldn't the New Year require less thought starting out:confused:   ;)

I know..I had to use my American Flag stamps for Xmas cards..We would go every few days and same story..P.O. sold out?...Now, I have none.........We get probably 5 pieces of junk mail..everyday. If the government would put a stop to all that..maybe the postage would quit going up...I'm going to start paying my cable/telephone at local office..a few miles from me.(Also butane gas)..that will only leave my electricity..(30 miles away)and mobile phone...Don't want to have them take it out of my checking account......Bonnie

And let my creditors know that I know that I am paying them late? Never! I will be dating my checks 12-26-2005 for at least another month. :D Must have been the slow Christmas mail.........heehee! J.
