I am nearly 13 weeks past my surgery of replacing my aortic valve. I still see the GP weekly to get my rat poision adjusted. I started working every day for 6 hours. I also do most thing around the household and drive my children to all the sport they need to go. I still try to fit in an 3/4 hour walk with my dog.
My problem is that i often feel a little bit dizzy. My blood pressure is ok. The GP told me that everything looks/sound alright.
I also feel tiered in the evenings and go early to bed. But who would not! I do feel refreshed after my nightly sleep.
Is the dizzyness a symptom of post surgery? Did anybody else expierenced it?
i really like to know how other people adjusted to working after Surgery etc.
Thanks

Hi Eowyn -- I had a problem with the inner ear balancing mechanism that caused dizziness ( vertigo ) upon head movement ( would happen when i got up from lying down and vice versa, and sometimes with sudden head movement ). I had my blood pressure measured as well and there was no substantial variation when I changed position -- my BP was normal too. This started happening around 7 weeks after my AVR and I am now in the 10th week post op and it seems to have gone away completely.

If your dizziness is related to head movement or position an inner ear infection could be causing it, but a doctor would diagnose this quite readily....

Hi Eowyn, I am not sure about the dizziness, would certainly ask your doc about it, but it can take a long time before you totally feel recovered after the surgery.

I would say 6 months to a year before your energy level returns to what it was before. Everyone is different and it happens differently for every person, but it sounds like you are doing a lot....could being overtired be a factor?

Sounds like you have a really busy schedule!

Good luck.

I had feelings of lightheadedness during weeks 6 to 12 post surgery. I felt so bad one day that I went to emergency during the seventh week. They reported all tests were within norms. My doctor would tinker with meds but I got no relief.

Also I had several episodes of the room spinning violently. I was wearing a 24 hour Heart monitor during the worse episode but there were no blips on my record.

Gradually it went away.

Today I am fine except for an occasional ocular migraine.

Hope your condition clears up soon.

I think i found the contributer to my dizziness yesderday.
We have got an apricot tree and i have been eating of this tree for the last 3 weeks now. I am not talking about 1 or 2 a day. It seems this tree was my concent sourse of food supply. I did run of apricots on the tree Thursday and did not eat any for two day. Yesterday cooked a Apricot cake with the apricots stored in my fridge. While cooking i still eat away on this sweet fruit and suddenly i get lightly dizzy. I think my body seems to react now to this fruit. A kind of food allergy. An overdose on fruit suger.! Never had this before but i think i can put up with it next apricot season again. I will mention it to my GP and ask if that is a possiblity.
Thanks for you replays, I still standing on wobbely ground when it comes to my heart. Everytime there is someting not quite right i worry. I dont want to go there in a hurry again.
Thanks
Eowyn Rose
