Actually, there have been some days that I turn out all the lights except one lamp in my room and it is a signal to my students that I have a headache (even if I don't) so we need to do "quiet" things that day. Once I even changed up some of my lessons to incorporate the movie "Oklahoma" just because it was one I found at the library (pretty easy to do as a Theatre teacher). Students never knew it wasn't in the plan. Fortunately, most of the time I'm in high gear all day and don't realize how tired I am until I stop. First days are always the worst, though, because I have to do a LOT more talking than usual. For example, tomorrow, we'll be playing the "name game" and doing a scavenger hunt to learn more about our classmates. All I have to do is give the instructions at the beginning, then off we go! I can sit back and watch if I need to, or I can walk around and check everyone's progress. Having dealt with this all my life I have found ways to (discretely) take it easy when I need to. The kids don't even catch on that one week I'm walking around to help them out, and the next I make them come to me.
