I just got a call from the BC/BS nurse in charge of my request for a new machine. I faxed her all my info on Friday and she called to tell me that I was approved for a new INRatio machine!!!!!!!

Hooray for you, Karlynn! It seems like it's pretty hard to get insurance companies to approve the self-test machines at all, so it must be quite a coup to get a replacement! I must have missed the details, but I'm guessing the old one is giving you problems?

My old one has real battery issues. I could either pay 375 to get it refurbished or get a new INRatio and pay 10% for my insurance copay.

My talk with the nurse that did the approval led me to believe that because it was a replacement it was an easier process than if I was beginning home testing. Not to mention that BC/BS was already paying for my testing supplies with my current machine.

I will say that I'm somewhat upset with QAS. This has been going on over 3 months now and it seems that all that BC/BS needed was my INR record keeping and a statement that I already home test. I faxed that on Friday directly to BC/BS and I had my approval today. Not sure where QAS got lost on this. I just hope they don't drag their feet on getting me the machine. The nurse was calling them to let them know of the approval.

Unless QAS sells the machines to insurance companies at a loss I can't imagine why they wouldn't get right on it. It's money in their pockets isn't it??? Well, sounds like it's going to work out anyway. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the new machine real soon.

I just sent Venus at QAS an email requesting information on the INRatio machine for my hubby! His cardio is all for home testing now, considering that my husband ALWAYS forgets to get into his office to be tested!

Stop talking nonsense Ms Bon! Through 4 years, there have been many many threads deleted and purged because of dead accounts. I'm sure if we did no pruning, your post count would around 6 or 7 grand. Don't rely on post counts to be an indication of anything. It's your experience that is of value, not post counts. ;)

love my INRatio

love my INRatio

Hi Karlynn and I think you will love your new INRatio machine. That's great news!!! ~hugs~:)

Karlynn. i just went to the INRatio site and printed off all the required forms.
Do we need to contact our insurance provider BC/BS next? If the insurance won't pay for it and our doctor will fill out the papers we will just pay for it ourselves and if he won't sign the forms we will find a doctor who will. I am tired of all this stressing because the doctors office is not handling his coumadin management at all. 1.5 for almost 5 weeks is enough.
