Woo-Hoo is right:) I'm very excited for you!
The training takes about an hour because they will set up the machine, show you how to change batteries, etc. The actual INR test is 5 minutes.
Here is a hint: There is a setting on the stick pen, set it on 3 or 3.5 before you stick your finger.
You will get a good size drop of blood right away the first time.
I had set mine too low, 1.5, which resulted in a tiny finger prick with not enough blood.

Have fun - it is really exciting and so wonderful to eliminate those regular arm sticks.

You will enjoy the ability to check your INR at home and be able to regulate coumadin with more confidence. I use the INRatio machine. Doing home testing gives peace of mind knowing that we are doing the best to limit risk factors taking coumadin.
I wish you good luck! Feel good!

Got my Coaguchek XS last month, it's great! Kind of fun to use actually. :)

I started with a 5 setting on the finger stick during the training, but have lowered it down to a 2.5 on my last test. Still got a drop of blood. May go for a 2 next time.

On the number 2 setting you may not get a free flowing drop of blood; squeezing the finger too much is not recommended....I'm going to try the number 3 setting since I'm getting stabbed on 3.5
