Well heres my short story .

I was wheeled into OR abuot 7 am and yes it was cold . i remember looking around and seeing all this equipment and all theese people for me WOW . they asked me what kinda music i wanted to hear my reply was what ever the surgeon liked .the last thing I remember was asking about the heart lung machine . They had a hard time getting a line in my neck so the first icision wasnt made until 10 or so . then they went in and tried to do the repair on my mitral valve the repair was unsuccesful due to size of the mitral valve it affected my aortic valve but they dont find this out untill they close me up and start my heart , They came out and notified my girlfriend that it didnt work and to go back in and replace the valve with a mecnanical valve ( she was crushed ) They go back and replace the valve ATX 33mm to be exact . the replacement went very well . I remember coming to and beig very mad as i had tubes down my throat and wanted them out badly . my tongue was very numb at this time and i guess in a panic i almost bit it in half (still hurts) I had lines ,wires and tubes coming out of every where . that first nite was rough for everyone around me as they said i looked gray. They wanted me up walking that nite I wasnt having any part of that . i did sit up and dangle my feet oevr the edge of the bed .the next day i went to get up and walk it felt like my leg was on fire where they had connected the heart lung machine to the artery in the groin area there is a nerve real close and the incision was putting pressure on the nerve and thepain was created from that . stayed in ICU till thursday and walked to my next room in what they call telemetry ,stayed there until i was released on sunday every thing is healing up nicely already walked a mile .Without the support of my girlfriend Debbie and my friend Dennis it would have been very hard to pull through this .

Good for you. Hope it all continues to go okay. Best of luck going forward with your recovery.
