You and your husband need to sit down and talk. If there is any hint whatsoever of wanting more children in the future with you as the birth mother, you will not want a mechanical valve. What you choose is something only you can decide, along with the help of you surgeon. There is no wrong choice except to do nothing.
If you could, would, should choose to adopt or something along those lines, then a mechanical may be in sight. It's one of the hardest decisions to be made, but a choice must be made with a back up plan in case the first choice doesn't work out.
