hi there- first post on the small talk forum- does anyone know where to find a bathing suit that covers up your scar??? I have several suits- but they all plunge down so far- and at 8 weeks out I am still pretty red- so dont really want to bare all to the world if I dont have to. I am at a loss since everywhere I have looked the bathing suits are more like the ones I have- plunging neckline practically down to the belly button! :D
Any ideas? Thans

Here is a pic of a sundress, but it gives you an idea of other neckline options with some coverage only where needed.
I'm sure a swimsuit specialty shop would be able to accomodate you.

A woman with a an OHS scar in a swimming suit is very sexy!

Speedo makes suits that come up closer to the neck. (And they can still be sexy!)

I have been wearing 2 pieces this summer for the first time in 15 years. At 4 months out now, I don't worry about my scar showing at all, even though it is still quite red. I just lather zinc oxide on it to keep it from burning and off I go. I understand your hesitancy, but men who have OHS show off their scars, why shouldn't we? If you really want high cut suits, I agree you should check out speedo (and other brands like this) as well as Land's End.

Ditto to kfay's suggestions - Land's End. Many very cute suits with many bikini, brief, or skirted options. Very mom friendly!

Try searching for mastectomy suits. They have high necks and higher arm holes, and of course pockets for the prostethesis, but you don't have to insert one unless you want a little "enhancement."
I'm wearing a bikini with a v-neck, when I wear a swim suit, but even 2 years out I still use the zinc oxide sunscreen- which now comes in clear solid tubes like antiperspirant!

I think Ross has just volunteered to officially "judge" which suit will be most attractive.

You know deprived people like me have wanted a VR.com Bikini Calendar for years now and I only have 2 members that have obliged. I need 10 more.

Unfortunately for you, I tend to be the one on the "operator" side of the camera, not the "subject" side. :p I spent all last weekend at the beach, and the only pics of me are on the dock with the gorgeous twinlets (and their mommy doesn't let me post their pics). And in a T-shirt, not a bikini.

"Tankini"

"Tankini"

After my surgery, I bought a "tankini", a two-piece with tank top. A little bit of the scar shows, but it is not too bad.

Are you actually going to swim in the suit? I ask because by the time your doctor allows you to swim, your scar may be far less noticeable and you won't need a special suit.

For high-necked suits, try Land's End. http://www.landsend.com They have many modest suits.

Ross that's a very cute suit! I was even thinking of getting it. But it makes for bad tan lines!

I haven't tried to hide my scar in years. But I do understand when it's fresh looking that it can make you feel uncomfortable.
