Our power went out at 10 P.M. last night. Many tornatoes in area.. Hit all around us. 10 in my sister's county alone in S.C. 1 dead in the county that I moved from. 25 homes and Firestation destroyed. All schools closed in North Georgia today..we had an 11 a.m. appointment at bank this morning. 30 miles away. Had to go..small bank (38 years we have done business) Sold out to a bigger bank in S.C. and had no choice put to go.. Dressed in the dark. no makeup and hubby could not shave..so we looked awful. But made the trip..Many trees in roads, ect.........Here is what I wanted to say..when power goes out. What to do with cuvettes I use for my pro-time....I took the flashlight to basement refrigerator..took the cuvettes and put them in freezer where I keep extra frozen meat..Started worrying late this afternoon if the power stayed off any longer..so drove down and bought ice...Thank goodness, power back on and ran down and put them back into the bottom of refrigerator.I felt the freezer and knew it was not that cold.I had just ordered a 6 month supply so will be watching if they were harmed or not. I put cuvettes in freezer after power had been off 10 hours..May test tomorrow. to see what happens... I'm sure Ann's power and poor Yaps is off. Hate living in the dark. Huricane lamps smell, ect. Bonnie

Glad you made it through ok! We had some severe weather here in NC today. RDU airport had a 79mph wind gust as the storms went through around 4pm (15 minutes from our house). NC mountains have it worse with flooding...as of 4pm 6 deaths in the NC mountains from Ivan. Hope Ann, Yaps, and the rest of our members came through the storm safely and didn't receive too much damage.

Hi Granbonny...

Hi Granbonny...

I am so glad that you and yours and Hensy and her family are all ok...How in the wide world did you ever get out and about? I hope the damage was minimal if any, and I have a funny feeling someone upstairs was looking out for all of you guys down there with all those tornadoes and all....When you hear from Hensy, would you tell her I am glad she is ok? Thanks.. Harrybaby666 :D :D :D

P. S. I am sending you the only ark that I can afford right now...LOL (see below) :D :D :D

Hi Bon

Glad all is well with you....sans power. We're just getting rain and wind up here in ny....lots of flooding, especially on my street which used to be a riverbed.....

NO MORE HURRICANES, I HOPE.

Evelyn

Just came through. Blew down a bunch of small branches, and toppled a dead maple tree inches from our power line.

It also ripped part of the gutter off of our second floor. I've already been out there with the 42' ladder, and put most of it back with gutter screws. Idiots who put it up only used aluminum nails, a prescription for eventual failure.

I hate heights in general, but especially on long ladders. I always get through it, but am usually emotionally and physically drained by the time I finish. Hardly enough damage to complain about here.

Best wishes,

We were lucky, too. Just power out for 20 hours..but I bought the Atlanta paper today and read thru it.. If anyone sees the Franklin, N.C. news on Ivan. I live an hour from there. Many homes destroyed and lives lost..That is on where highway 441 comes down from the Smokey Mountains from Gatlinburg, N.C. and Cherokee, , N. C...We have camped in our R.V. many times on that river...Locally, we lost a little age 6 year old girl..near where I live. She was playing outside and reached for a toy..she had dropped.(From a local fast food place) and fell into a culvert. Her, age 16 year old sister jumped in..but couldn't reach her. and it took many strong men to rescue the older sister. They finally found the little girl, rushed her to hospital where she was pronounced dead. :( ....I am just now seeing news from Fla..Don't think we will hear from Yaps for awhile. They are not letting anyone back in to where she lived...Under water.. I know ann is still out of power. May be many days before we hear from her. I thought 20 hours from no power was awful..until I read the many sad stories in the paper today. We were blessed. Bonnie
