Just signed up yesterday and this, obviously, is my first post.
Born in 1958 with coarctation of the aorta. Repaired by Dr. Zeigler at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. Thought it was 1962, but my parents said it was a bit before I turned 5, so maybe June 1963. No problems since then, beyond the minor inconvenience of remembering my antibiotic before seeing the dentist, until...
...a week ago, participating in the 30 year examination for Cardia (randomly selected in this study of "Young Adults and Heart Disease" in 1985) when an echocardiogram detected moderate to severe aortal stenosis. Apparently it was mild stenosis at the Cardia exam 5 years ago.
Saw my primary on Wednesday and there is a Cardiology consult scheduled for Nov. 20.
No symptoms - so the good news is that I may be on the "wait and see" track.
But I am doing my homework and am grateful to have a community such as this. Will keep you posted after the 20th...
