What should I do???

I feel completely stupid this morning. I guess I was in a kind of fog as I was getting ready for work and instead of taking my morning pills, I took my night pills (I have two pill organizers and grabbed the wrong one). Now I don't know what to take tonight. Do I take my morning dose (which is just stuff I take 2x a day), then tomorrow go back to my normal routine???

These are the pills I took that I shouldn't have:

Coumadin 8 mg
Aldactone 25 mg
Toprol XL 75 mg
Lanoxin .1875 mg
Asprin 81 mg
Vit C 500 mg
Loestrin FE 1/20 (birth control pill)

I know my INR will probably go all screwy, but how do I fix what I've done???

Niki.....I would just go back on schedule and take the morning pills tonight and then back to normal....I may be wrong and I am sure someone will come along with a different answer but I do know that a one day mix up should not put your INR in the wacky mode.

Taking your 'morning pills' tonight (and NOT taking your usual 'night pills') sounds like the RIGHT IDEA.

That way, your WEEKLY total will remain the same, just a 'little hiccup' with the timing of today's pills.

(Do you take LASIX? If so, you might want to take that in the MORNING instead of Night if you want to sleep through the night

Wish I could! But I have to take it twice a day.

I'm glad to see others agree with the approach I'd thought to take. Makes me feel better about the decision.

I did that once too! As others have adviced, take your morning regime of pills tonight & than resume your usual dose tomorrow. I too take my coumadin at night & like you, I have to take Lasix in the morning & in the evening. I try to take my lasix early but sometimes I forget to & I have to get up several times a night to empy!

Niki, what are the day pills that you should have taken?

The Coumadin, aspirin, Vit C and B/C pill are all fine until tomorrow night. Your INR will be fine!

I would be more concerned about screwing up on BP meds.....taking the Toprol 12 hours early could give you some LOW BP, you may want to keep aware of this today and overnight when the reverse could happen that you get a higher BP.

Yes, I'm a bit concerned about that too. My husband (a nurse) told me I might feel a bit light headed today. I can't tell if I'm light headed because of my screw up, or because I'm on the verge of getting sick, but it hasn't been too bad.

The only pills I SHOULD have taken this morning were vasotec and lasix. I did take them, since I take them twice a day. So at least I'm covered there. The vasotec tends to be the one I notice the most when I miss it. I won't have missed a dose of it at all, thank goodness.
