Robert's been having these annoying hot flushes on and off, mostly starting in the afternoon right up to late in the evening. His whole face and neck go red and he feels kind of hot and sometimes gets a wee pain in his head. He's getting worried, any ideas of what it might be? What kind of doctor should he see? He doesn't have a doctor and whenever he gets a cold or something, he just goes to the hospital and is treated by whoever is available at the time. Hope you can help here!

I am wondering because I get them too, and usually my blood pressure is up a bit...I would start out with his Primary Doctor first and go from there Debora. Hope he feels better..Harrybaby

I would start with seeing an internist and go from there. Best wishes!

Captopril

Captopril

Thanks everyone for your advice. The doctor came round and had a look at him. Yes, it was hbp, and he was given captopril for it. Seems to be helping.
Thanks again.

Going to see a cardio

Going to see a cardio

Robert has arranged to see a cardio next Wednesday afternoon. He now has to avoid eating foods with too much salt, but since I've never had high blood pressure, what does that really mean? I hope the doctor takes his chance to do some tests to check his health in general. Can some of the folks here who have or have had to deal with that sort of thing shed some light here? What's life like for people who have HBP and what needs to be changed in the person's life style? Does going for walks really help? Any information would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
