I'm wondering what things, other than valvular stenosis, affect pressure gradient across the heart on echocardiogram ? When I had my last echo the cardiologist told me that if a person is dehydrated the pressure gradient is lowered. What about foods and caffeinated drinks ? What about lack of foods ? What about anxiety ? Does anyone know if any of these things increase or decrease the pressure gradient ?
