Hey,
Just wanted to let you all know that I had my Dr.'s visit with the new cardiologist today. He was very nice we watched the echo that I brought together and reviewed the report. He said he is concerned with the regur. in both the valves as well as the atrium enlargement. He said the enlargement is like a piece of elastic stretchd out that will not go back down to a normal size.
He said as far as the EKG there is a margin for error in those test so he's not saying I did or didn't have a heart attack at this point.

He is ordering a stress/thallium test on this Friday he said after that he will know a lot more about me.
I have read it does show a lot of things liked clogged arteries, damaged heart muscle, etc.

Did anyone have this test and it show something that they didn't know that they had...?
How tuff was this test were you totally exhausted after 3 hours of testing?
While you are being tested can you tell what your PAP is?

Thanks,
Sonya
:)

Sonya, Glad you saw another cardiologist. Hopefuly this one will be better than the last one. I had a thalium stress test and it wasnt that bad. Hang in there and hope you get some answers. It would be nice to know if you really had a heart attack or not.
Good luck to you!!

Hi Sonya,
I had a dalium stress test almost 2 years ago November of 2000.
What I remember is they take pictures of your heart at rest. Them they inject a die through an intravenous in your vein. I don't remember exactly. But I think you have to wait for it to get in your system. YOu have walk on a treadmill. Which is attached to a cardiogram while your walking. After you've done this they send you back to this table where they take pictures after you've excercised.
The thing I found uncomfortable. Is when you have to lie very still on this table while the machine moves very slowly taking numerous pictures. You can't move. Its a mental excersie to relax.
It was semi open. Not like a closed MRI.
I don't remember it being totally exhausting. I did good. Actually I had it done while admitted in the hospital. I didn't have the right shoes and clothes. You should do fine.

Are you kidding I run 10 miles a day(just kidding).

I think I will be fine it doesn't seem to be all that bad.
As long as I'm walking I'll be fine now if they want me to run I'll be in trouble.........
