I guess its time for me to place my flag at the top of this mountain. We will be leaving in a couple of hours to go get my preop workup done and talk to the anesthesiolgist. My surgery is tenatively set for early tommorow morning but as it is not considered emergency I could get push back a little.

I've started having dreams about the hospital and so far they have not been to scary so I hope that they are premonitions of what is to come! I have been trying to get my wife to come and look at this site but she has been spending most of her free time scrapbooking to keep her mind of of things. She seems to be holding up ok. I will get her to post an update as soon as she gets a chance to.

My older boy (Hunter) has been practicing how to give me gentle hugs so as not to hurt daddy when I get home. He asked me yesterday what would happen if he forgot and hugged me to tight if it would break daddy. I had to laugh and just let him know that there was no way he could break me. Those little guys are still on a sugar rush from holloween and have been quite a handful.

Well everyone, thanks once again sharing your experiences and all your advice. It has helped me understand more fully what I needed to do to take care of myself. Please keep me and my family in your prayers and God willing instead of climbing up the mountain we will be skiing down it! For everyone else who's surgery is eminent (Christina L, Soccermom44, Chevy Man) and those who have gone before us (Mamsram, Bob Bates, and others) I hope that we all have smooth sailing and can meet at the bottom to celebrate! You will all be in my prayers.

Rick

Hi Rick-

Wishing you all the best and hope that you have designated someone to post for your friends here. We'll be waiting to hear.

So Bon Voyage and smooth sailing. Don't get seasick! Talk to you later.

Everything will be fine.

Enjoy today - and tomorrow will take care of itself. Tomorrow you need to let go and let the experts do their job. Many of us reached a place of great calm just before our surgeries; You focus very deeply on yourself and just get through it.

My best wishes and prayers will follow you tomorrow - there will be many souls going into surgery with you. May your mountain be a molehill and may the truck miss you entirely.

Prayers are with you without doubt. I'm very happy to see this is being taken care of before things go sour. That means you'll be around for many more sunrises and sunsets, while enjoying the kids growing and the love of your wife. This is what life is all about and your near to getting a renewed lease on it.

Please get your wife accustomed to the forum before you leave. Once she sees what shes missing, she may be surprised plus, she may need some support too. We are here. :)

Gosh, we're going to have to change this from a heart valve site to a mountain climbing site. :)

May your surgery be a total success, may you enjoy the view from the top of the mountain, and may you have a safe descent.

All the best,

Melissa

Dear Rick,
You may be in the hospital tonight and unable to read this, but my thoughts are with you, your wife, and children. This surgery is the gateway to the rest of your life, and as you go through it, on the other side waiting for you are your family, friends, and a wonderful future without that aneurysm! My wish for you is the same wonderful recovery that my husband had.
