Welcome to the forums Channie.

Hopefully you won't have a problem with the Doctors prescribing the home test unit. It's so much better and gives you more control over your Coumadin therapy that the price is certainly worth it.

Read around, join in, have fun and offer advice where you think you might be able to help. That's what we are here for, so enjoy.

Hi Channie - welcome to vr.com. It is a really nice place to visit. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It sounds like you have been round and round with your heart health. I have said a prayer for you. There is much to learn here if you just read around the different categories. Even some fun - American style, mostly. god bless

Hi Channie - Welcome to the forum. I had rheumatic fever when I was ten years old with heart valve damage, but didn't have my valves replaced/repaired until 2001 (35 years later). Good luck with getting the coaguchek and hope you join us for more discussion.

Welcome

Hi Channie

Welcome to V.R.Com

It is really nice to have another UK member.

I am sorry to hear that you are having so many problems with you INR,

I am sure that when you get your Coagechek things will improve for you, at least you will be able to check your INR yourself

I believe that the test strips can be obtained on the NHS at just the normal prescription cost ( it may work out cheaper for you if you get a prepayment certificate for the year which is around £89 but check with your GP first )

Check in often and let us know how things are going

Keep Smiling

Jan ( Liverpool England )

welcome channie!
this is truly a wonderful site. i'm sorry you have to be dealing with these things at your young age ( i have a daughter your age), but atleast it is a manageable one, right?
i agree with all the others, the coagucheck_ if you can get it_ will give you much more freedom.
please come back and chat. let us know how you are doing.
be well, sylvia
