Hello everyone

Im trying to read as much as I can even during work. I already mentioned that trying to saty fit with mild stenosis and not to sacrifice my life style as much as possible.

2 days ago went to gym and was on bicycle for 6 miles. ( I start with bicycle than I start lifting weights). I have checked my HB while I was middle of my Bicycle set and it showed around 140-150.

Right after I have finished my Bcycle I checked my pulse and it was 107 which is good again. Then my trainer friend told me that he does have BP device in the house and I asked him to bring it. He brought it up and like 6 minutes resting after 6 miles bicycle trip device showed 10mm to 4.5mm BP.

Then I started to lift weight ( not really heavy the most was 80 pound) and calm myself down for 4-5 min then I saw 10mm to 5 mm. But I wasnt dizzy or anything.

I got worried a little and just cpl hours ago I have checked again and it was 11 to 7.

After repair they put me on zestril and baby aspirine ( since 2002). The last time I went to card, I was off my med for 2 days and BP showed 16-9. He increased the dosage ( he put me on Coversyl 5 mg instead 4mg. Medicine names change regarding to continents though so I dont know coversyl is available in US) .

Question is during workout I know BP suppose to increase during the activity but can it drop lower the normal during resting after the activity or this is something else?

The answer to your question is yes, it is normal for blood pressure to drop after periods of exercise. It is also normal for it to return to usual resting values. http://www.lifeclinic.com/focus/blood/articleView.asp?MessageID=53

The values you use to express your blood pressure are unfamiliar to me. Usually blood pressure is expressed as, for example, 110/70. The typical units of measurement are mmHg (millimeters of mercury) so in my example the systolic blood pressure (when the left ventricle contracts to push blood out into the body) is 110mmHg, and the diastolic blood pressure (when the left ventricle is at rest) is 70mmHg. I'm not sure what you mean by "10mm to 5mm" and the like.

It is really good that you are monitoring your exercise so well after surgery. I do the same but I must admit that I have never monitored my BP during a workout.

I have a similar exercise routine as you describe. First, 25 min or so on inclined treadmill or elliptical, then weight training; always less than 100 lbs. I always monitor my HR and I notice it, of course, going all over the map, depending on what I was doing. Usually average HR is 125 with peaks up arround 150.

I went through cardio rehab post-op, and they measured my BP in mm Hg. Usually, it would be elevated during exercise and at the end they would measure it. But, before they measured the ending BP value they would make us wait until the HR was below 100 BPM. At that point it used to be 110/70 or so. On my last stress test the peak BP was 175/95 at 172 BPM HR (heart rate).

I am also unfamiliar with the units of BP measurement you are quoting... what was the model and manufacturer of your BP measuring device? Do you trust it? Could you get it calibrated with a known good one, like at your doctor's office?
