I am 6 months out of aortic valve replacement. (Tissue Valve). I have been doing some light weightlifting. I want to add some supplements to my routine. Need some info about Creatine Monohydrate powder. Also considering taking 1-AD. (1-androstene-3beta,17beta-diol). 100mgs. All this stuff is over-the-counter so I assume it is safe. Anyone know for sure?

I would consider it safe. I used to take it myself. But I can tell you it won't do a bit of good unless you are pushing yourself to the max each workout. It isn't a steroid but allows you to get an extra rep or two out of each set which adds up to increased muscle fiber recruitment, hence larger and stronger musculature.

I had difficulty with Creatine and Coumadin stabilization. Don't know if you take Coumidin or not.

safety of 1-AD

safety of 1-AD

"1-AD" is marketed as a prohormone, since it is thought to convert to 1-testosterone in the body, an isomer of testosterone. The objective of taking this stuff is "performance enhancer" but I read anabolic steroid. It's not known if 1-AD converts into testosterone in the body (or exactly what it does, if anything, in the body). My advice would be check with your doctor or, if you don't need to take it, don't.

Nutritional supplements are protected from FDA regulation by the 1994 US Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, and manufacturers are not required to demonstrate proof of efficacy or safety. Ephedra ephedra (ma huang) caused a number of deaths but it had been sold OTC. Buyer beware.
