Thought they said Rita was gonna sit and spin for a while down there. Hows come the witch is knocking on my door now? Can't they ever get it right anymore?

We Is Coised...Someone put a spell on us....and now we're theirs...LOL :D  :D Harrybaby :D

Yeah - she's been watering my lawn and knocking leaves off my trees since late last night. I am still trying to figure out why there are no available flights leaving Houston. The weather is outta there. Maybe my SO just doesn't want to come home. :( He must be having too much fun taking down the boards they put up on Thursday.

'cuz we were supposed to batten down the hatches for violent thunderstorms, strong winds, etc., etc., etc., and we didn't get a single drop of rain! NADA! NOt that I wish ill will on anyone, but at least as long as it was out there anyway, I wanted some rain. We hit the 100 degree mark every day last week and have a watering ban in place for most of the daylight hours, so my St Augustine yard is really very close to becoming a true saint. :D I'm gonna have to perform CPR on Katie's tomato plants, too............sigh! :D Send it back our way, please! J.

Well I offered. Not sure what an SO is. I think I used to be one at one time, but it's been so long, I can't remember.

Gina, I believe I heard on TV that part of the airport is damaged.

On the other hand, my Houston nurse cousin battened down, boarded their windows. They got heavy winds, rain, but their electricity didn't even go off. However, other parts of Houston are quite damaged. They are asking residents who left to stay away for a couple of days, at least.

My SO (significant other, partner, boyfriend - whatever ;) ) and his brother's family evacuated to Dallas and went back to Houston on Saturday. There was no power or phone service at the house. I couldn't reach him yesterday so I guess his cell phone was not able to be charged. They probably went back too soon but you know about hindsight?

Ann, depressed to hear about the airport as I was hoping he would be home today but maybe that will be delayed again. Oh well, I can hope and wait and see. I am sure he will be home eventually. At least they saved the house from a lot of damage.

Ross,
I think you traded it in when you became a husband.

lol...oh my...

Well, my "whatever" just got home. He had quite an adventure. Glad we don't have hurricanes up here (although we do have our share of crummy weather).

Sorry, Ross, but I am glad Rita changed course and went away from Houston. Was pretty scary for my Mom in Eagle Lake TX - only 60 some miles from Houston. She has a modular home - 80 mile an hour winds would have been very bad for a 73 yr. old widow with High BP! She was planning on sleeping in the bathtub with a mattress over her!

Talked to her Saturday am and all she could do was gripe that she didn't get any rain, that it has been in the high 90's and her lawn needs watering! I'm going down there at Thanksgiving and will try to get her to move to Tucson - its a dry heat and no hurricanes! That humidity in and near Houston -- Yuk!
