I was wondering if anybody out there has had a weakening sternum? I went back to work way too early, and had to quit because I haven't been feeling good lately. My sternum is killing me. What do they usually do about that? Just wondering.

They call their doctor in a situation of this kind. You should not have "killing me" pain. So, Joy, if you have a question of this magnitude, ALWAYS call your dr. Now, ya hear? And let us know what your dr says. God bless

Is it the chest muscles that are sore, or does it feel more local to the incision site?

I know I've had some brutal muscle soreness this time around. A lot of it right through the chest. A good bout of light stretching a few times a day helped.

I agree with hensylee. If it's extreme, it's best to check with the docs.

Let us know how it goes, Joy.

Hi Joy,

I suggest you talk to your doctor about this. Some soreness is normal for quite a while but not if it feels like it's killing you. I do what Kevin said. At least twice a day I stretch my chest muscles very slowly and that seems to help with the stiffness I feel.

Hi guys, I think I will call my cardiac case manager. I just don't want to have to get my sternum rewired. It actually moves back and forth. I never hear clicks or pops, though. It really was too soon for me to go back to work. They took advantage of me because I was new, and scheduled me way to many hours. Anyways, they made me stand all day, with like a 15 minute break. For a 8 hour and 45 minute shift. Anyways. I can't do that. Well, I better get going. I'll keep you all posted.

Hey Joy!
Glad that you are going to check with the docs on this one! My surgeon told me that anytime something really hurts it should be checked out! Let us know!

Take care,
Zazzy
