Yikes..the little sucker got me a few hours ago..when I lifted cover from outside grill... Below the fingernail..right hand, middle finger,,the one you used to flip someone off. :p Not that I ever do that.. :D Ran in and soaked in ice water..No help..swollen now from that finger to wrist..Finger hard and hot.....Makes me so mad..I was going to pick up Kameron and new Russian Grandson in the morning for overnight..Hubby says, not to worry,,he will help... Hopefully, it will go down soon.Don't think ice will help anymore.. will be interesting to know if it affects my INR.. that's the finger I prick..so, will have to wait until it goes down. (finger).....Bonnie

Bonnie, they sure hurt. I've found that meat tenderizer helps. Make a paste and leave it where the sting is. Living in the middle of a hay field we have a lot of wasps and I ususally always get stung a few times a year. I always keep meat tenderizer around just for that purpose. I hope this helps.

I was just going to say, we always put mud or meat tenderizer on the spot were we got stung and it helped alot,if it swells anymore, I would get it checked to make sure you're not allergic. Lyn

OUCH !

That makes me cringe Bonnie, and I get stung a LOT when mowing the yard by Yellow Jackets and this year by a real nasty, a Cicada Killer Wasp, but have never swollen up as bad as you describe. You might want to call you Doc for his opinion. Once after being stung over 20 times on the legs by yellow jackets, I called the Poison Control Center and they checked back every hour to make sure I was OK. I spent the night sitting on the edge of the bathtub putting cold washcloths on my legs.

I now use amonia or sting-eze or whatever insect bite medication is on hand. It still hurts but not as bad.

How you are doing better.

You might want to take some Benedryl too. Tylenol PM (and it's generics) have Benedryl in them as the sleep agent. But getting some antihystamine in your system may help out.

I had a yellow jacket slam into my upper lip as it came through open car window while I was driving down highway. Instant agony  I put cold water on it & then sting-eze - then baking soda when I got home. Nothing touched the pain. I finally used some anesthetic cream for denture on it... aaahhhhh - relief.
