Am I the only one who does this? When I log my current dose of warfarin, I track it by the weekly dose as opposed to the daily dose.

For example, I currently take 63 mg of warfarin a week (or 9mg a day). I do this for a few reasons. For one, if let's say I alternate doses some days a week, it is a heck of a lot easier to list it as 60mg week than all of the different days and what I take on those days. When I go to certain doctors though, they look at me like I am high taking 63 mg as if I take that all in one day.

About one year ago, after joining this forum, I began to track my dosage by the weekly mgs. It is simpler and does show INR/dosage trends. It also makes changing doses easier by making changes based on a percentage of the weekly dose.

I agree that doctors and nurses are caught off guard when dosage is mentioned in weekly terms.:rolleyes:;)

Tracking weekly dosage makes sense to me. I alternate 2.5/5.0 all the time - literally. I'd rather alternate than pay co-pays for 2 different pills. I buy 5mg ($4) pills and split them for 2.5mg. A 10% dose change is 2.5 mg, typically just swap a 5.0 for a 2.5 for one day. Simple and easy.

I track by weekly and do a pill box for day to day. Right now I'm taking 13 MWF and 10 STThSa. The pill box is how I keep the days straight.
