My wife had some bright red blood together bowel movements, bleeding stops very quickly. She has hemorrhoids (piles). I wonder if this was aggravated by warfarin she is taking or is this a more serious condition and require a trip to the doctor??

I would call doc. Since it is bright red, it may be due to the hemorrhoids. But since the surgery was a short time ago, it would be a good idea too get a professional opinion. I doubt that warfarin has aggravated the condition.

Another of our "Famous Expressions" is "When in Doubt, Check It Out" which is a variation of the old adage "Better to be Safe than Sorry".

Note that FIBER in the diet helps to keep bowels soft and pliable which facilitates 'easy' movements.
High Fiber Cereals (such as Shredded Wheat, ALL-Bran which can be sprinkled on other cereals or foods) along with Fruits and Vegetables are good sources of dietary fiber.

Thanks guys, yeah, it was the hemorrhoids acting up again. Luckily today, normal bowel movements. Must get some High FIber Cereals this weekend.

Check the Dietary Fiber listing on Food Labels.
Whole Grain Cereals and Breads are good sources of Fiber.
Post Shreaded Wheat n'Bran is one example.
General Mills Wheat Chex (Whole Grain) is another.
Kellogs All Bran is Very High in Fiber. Not very tasty by itself but can be sprinkled on other cereals or foods.
There are also Fiber Powders that can be added to drinks (orange juice, water) such as Mucinex, etc.
Start SLOWLY with such products.

EDIT - OOPS ! Yes, I meant METAMUCIL and NOT Mucinex (which is a decongestent).

Fiber Works! :)

Al, Did you mean Metamucil?

I have been using Metamucil for years as a fiber supplement and it works well for me. As, Al said, start slow with any change in diet/fiber suppliment....
