I want to go out of town the middle of feb. for a few weeks and i was wondering if it's too soon? I will be able to get my INR checked and I can call and report it or have it faxed to my dr. for those few weeks. I will be 5 and a half or 6 weeks post-op, I really need this break (to be babied for once.) I am 3 weeks out now and I am still having some movement when I sneeze, laugh or cough. Not to mention still can't sleep on bed. But I am up doing things and it is getting easier... please let me know...

Only you can determine that. If you feel up to it, go for it. Remember that your going to tire very easily, so plan for many breaks to get the needed rest. It's really kind of soon, but if it'll help your recovery, why not.

I think you should run it by the surgeon, since you are probably technically under hs care. There might be issues other than INR that the surgeon would like to discuss with you. 5-6 weeks out, is still pretty new in the grand scheme of things. So get the blessing of the doc before embarking on your trip.

I hope it works out well for you.

I think it'll depend a lot on how long the car ride is, etc. If you're going somewhere that you'll relax and heal, I'll bet you'll be sent on your way. Sounds good to me.

Ouch. Sleeping is still a problem (you posted in the midddle of the night).

You weren't specific about your destination, but refer to being babied. I highly recommend an environment where you will be babied, as long as tranporting you there doesn't cause more problems. And don't get too babied, recovery is an active process.

I suggest getting the swelling (separate post) checked out and also suggest that you be discharged by the surgeon.
