The waiting is the worst part of the surgery. I don't think my experience in ICU was awful. I remember seeing my family and being taken care of but nothing much more. I was awfully hot and trying to take of the heating blanket and wanted something to drink. I would wake up enough to have some ice chips and then go back to sleep. I think I was brought to ICU around 9:00 pm and then moved the next day around 4:00pm to a regular room. Come to think of it, I don't remember much about my family coming in all day Friday. It is weird that some things are coming back but nothing really bad. Thank heavens for all the medical technology. The hospital put us up the night before in a hotel and I did sleep that night. My surgery was delayed 6 hours and that was the worse. They didn't want to give me a sedative because they didn't know exactly what time the surgery would be. I was #2 for him that day and had another after me. Does a lot of sick babies and they take priority. You will do just fine. Keep thinking how much better you are going to feel down the road.
