Hi Guys,

Last night while I was trying to get some sleep, this little poem/song was running around through my mind, trying it's dangdest to get out and be put down on paper. I finally gave in, so here it is:

VR.com Reunion Theme Song

We come from the east, and we come from the west,
from near, and quite far, to meet all the rest.
We are fathers and mothers, we're sisters and brothers,
each has climbed our own mountain, (some steeper than others).

One of the reasons we come, is to thank,
our wonderful, marvelous leader, named Hank.
See, our journey's not easy, it's quite scary at first,
and you tend to get queasy, when you've just heard "the worst".

We were all full of all kinds of questions and fears,
we felt all alone, may have even shed tears.
So...we all surfed the "net", we searched, and we met,
good friends, without Hank, we'd have still not met yet!

We'll all gather together in some special place,
whatever the weather, and meet face to face.
We'll all compare stories and our high INR's,
and who's chest looks best, with a scar upon thars!

We'll eat, and we'll drink, and we'll have lots of fun,
and before we all know it, our time will be done.
We'll hug our good-byes, and blink back a tear,
and say, "Bless your heart, 'til we see you next year"!

I'm not good at writing music myself, so if any of you are so inclined, and want to take a stab at it, (or you can think of an existing tune we could put it to), perhaps this could be our official reunion theme song. What do you think??:D

Im sure a Rolling Stones or AC/DC song will fit. I will go through my music and see what I come up with. :)

Jean,

That is absolutely wonderful!! Lets all sing it together in Chicago! :) ...... and then again after a couple drinks! :D

neat verse. wish my hubbie and i could go and meet everyone.

Wow, Wow, Wow..This is great!

Jeannie girlfriend,

You are truly very talented.
I am sure someone will come up with the music.
Great work!:) :) :)

I think we found another guest speaker Perry!

Jean, very beautiful! Had no idea we had such talent amongst us! I do know someone who can help us out and play your tune to beautiful piano music. Anyone wanna guess? :D Give you a small hint. If you were in Nashville you may recall......

SUPER TUNE!!

SUPER TUNE!!

Hey Jean,
That is Great! You have a talent you didn't even know you had.
Can't wait for the reunion!

No thanks Gina,

No thanks Gina,

Yes, I keep my talents very well hidden, most of the time. Ray didn't even know about that one! I may be able to write down a few lines on paper once in a while, but please don't ever, ever, ever ask me to get up and speak in front of anybody! That's definitely one of my phobias!

I was actually thinking about Dr. Seuss, and his Star-bellied Sneetches, (I know, I'm weird), but the line about them having Stars upon "thars" is what kept going through my head. Then, I thought about the fact that we have Scars upon ours, and that we have "Hank to Thank for even knowing each other, and the rest just sort of "wrote itself".

Rain- Yes I was thinking there'd prob'ly be drinking
for a while before we even start singing...
(sorry) once I get started, it's hard to stop...;)

Christina- are you going to be there? Hope so, if not, maybe we can get together in Phoenix again sometime.

Phil- hmmmm, AC/DC???? not quite what I had in mind:p

I'm glad you all seem to like it, (except for maybe Ross!):D

Don't fret, from one Seuss fan to another. (We have all the books) I would never put you on the spot Jean. Have you seen Seuss at Universal in Orlando? If not, put it on your list of "to do's" Beleive I enjoyed it more than Kara. Hey, I have a few pictures. Now if this image is not embarrassing!

Oh my gosh, I actually have corrupted you people haven't I?

Hey Gina......

Hey Gina......

....just wondering who you were referring to in your earlier post........teehee?

I read through Jean's words and immediately came up with an old folk song which has several titles. Some call it 'The Moonshiner' and others call it 'I'm a rambler, I'm a Gambler.' - Anybody know it?

First few lines are........

I'm a Rambler, I'm a Gambler, I'm a long way from home,
An if you don't like me, just leave me alone.
I'll eat when I'm hungry and I'll drink when I'm dry,
An if Moonshine don't kill me, I'll live till I die.

The music is really simple and even those who don't know it should catch the tune within a short time. Phil...I just don't think the 'Stones' or AC/DC music will fit, maybe we need to adopt the attitude of many Country singers who believe that 'If the Mailman can't whistle it.....Don't record it......It's too complicated'.

Hope the Hotel in Chicago has a more relaxed attitude to the VR.com spontaneous musical outbursts. In Nashville, MUSIC CITY USA the Management decided to put a large sign on 'our' piano 'For display purposes only.' That was after we'd had a four-hour jam session on the Friday afternoon.......wish Dick was coming to Chicago with his mandolin.

All Musicians please bring your instruments and we'll give it a go.

Jean: Very good! I like the words.

Billy: I remeber that song but can't think of the title. I wonder if I can do a search and possibly find it. Yeah, that would go good with the words Jean wrote.

We did cause a bit of a uproar in Nashville, didn't we? You two sounded so good! That was so much fun. That was my first vr.com reunion and I thought it was awesome that two people that didn't know each other, had never rehearsed together could but on just an impromtu jam. It was great!

Yeah, lets try to do that at the Sheraton! I have a Guild acoustic guitar. If anyone wants to borrow it at the reunion that can play, I'll bring it along. It was my ex's. He didn't want it when we got divorced.

Gina: Cute picture!

Can't wait for the reunion! This is going to be fun! :D :D

Joan Baez recorded that song a few years ago, but I beleive it has been aroung for longer that that.

Hey Jean,

You are a very talented lady

10 out of 10

I am sure Billy will set it too music, maybe then we could have it as our theme tune

I hope you all have a wonderful time at the reunion

Love

Jan

Singing around a piano sounds like Fun!

Singing around a piano sounds like Fun!

Hey Billy,

I like your idea, I don't know if I know that tune or not, the words seem a little familiar, I am approx 1/3 Irish!, so it's posssible!

Singing around the piano sounds like my kinda fun! In fact Ray and I both love to sing, and I guess we're not too bad, since they let us sing in the church choir, (which means we're not generally drinking when we sing, Ross).

Gina, I was going to ask if there was a karaoke bar anywhere near the hotel, cuz we love to do that, but singing around the piano with Billy is a wonderful alternative!

See ya all there on Friday!
