I used to remind y'all to go check out the home page, but got side tracked. I read Hank's post on the poll thread this morning and he reminded us to go check it out. I did. I went into the Guestbook and read all the remarks in there. I found entries going all the way back to 2000 - I even found Nancy's first entry. She seems to be checking in often to direct folks to the forum. Thanks, Nancy. Other members check in, too to help newbies along. Ross moderates, as well. Why not check out the home page today - you might find some names you forgot all about. I did.

Try this...

Try this...

For those of you who have a link directly into the forum as your "bookmark" or "favorite" to get back to the forum, why don't you link to the main page instead?

Just link to www.valvereplacement.com and then the forum is only one click away. That way you won't miss the big changes when they happen over the next few months.

Just a thought..

Hank/Ross - I find a problem. When I get replies to threads in my email, that's the link I click on - then I go to 'new posts' for the rest of the threads. I bet there are many, many of us who do that. Is there a way that when an addition to a post is sent out, it could be sent showing the home page address instead of directly to the thread we are checking? I have to remind myself to go to the home page and that's why I used to put a reminder for everybody to go check the page each month when it changes. What do you think? What does everybody else think?

Ann,
My problem with the main page is if I go there, my computer wants me to log in and half the time I can't remember my password. It might sound lame, but I've got a zillion passwords (ask Ross), and if I don't bookmark to go straight to the forum, I can't get in without a hassle.
But I will try it again, just in case it choses to cooperate. :D
ps Just a thought, but why can't we just log in with our user name? Why would we need a password, since we all have individual user names?
????????????????????

because it's an unwritten rule that the world is open only to those who have passwords - it's some kind of magic, I am told.

However, when you are in the forum, click on the yellow VALVE REPLACEMENT at the top of the page and that will take you to the home page. It's also part of the magic but no password is involved. Once on the home page you can go back and forth to everything in the site.

Ann nope. It's the way vBulletin is set up.

If you never sign out and you never delete your forum cookies, then you should not have to log in again. I watch people everyday log in, post, log out and read the forums. Why? What a waste of time. Just stay logged in and don't have the extra hassles. ;)

Mary - I have NEVER logged out. When I get a notice in email that there is a response to a thread I have posted to, I simply click on the blue thingy and it takes me right to that answer - then I go to the top of the page, click on 'new posts' and I am into all the new posts entered from the last time I checked the site. That's how I forget to go to home page - I got out of the habit, but need to get back in it.

Perhaps others have questions about maneuvering the site - post them here and let's all discuss. I've been a member for 5 yrs, seen 3 different changes in VR site, but I know that I don't know everything there is to know about VR and all its stuff. Maybe somebody will share any tricks of the site and we can all learn.

I have learned a new thing today! Thanks Ann! I didn't realize we could set our email to act as a notifier of post responses. I just hit forum, new posts, and try to read everything that has been posted since my last look.
This works, unless too much time elapses, and I have pages of new posts to review.

I did try book marking the website again, like Hank suggested, and it is taking me straight to the home page rather than bypassing it using the forum. I guess (?) that Hank needs us to hit/stop at the main page so numbers are correctly recorded? Anyway, whatever it takes to make forum administrators happy, I will do. (Ross, that does NOT mean I will do everything to make you happy  )
