Hi
I have noticed that 11 months post op that I have lost some vision loss in one of my eyes I noticed this about 1 month after surgery. I used to be able to read the whole chart but now I cant. I still have 20/20 in one eye but less than that in the other. I wonder if it could be from lack of blood or oxygen during surgert? I have also had 3 dizzy spells since surgery that last less than 1 min. I do have a sinus infection that I have had for sometime and wonder if its from that. the doc told me that the antibiotic keytek wouldnt affect my inr but it went from 3 to 4.2 in 10 days. I know thats alot in one post but any comments are appreciated.

Hi lee, good to hear from ya.

Vision changes after surgery are not uncommon at all. Seems like with everyone I've had, I've had to get a new prescription for new glasses. Could be age, but I'm more inclined to think surgery is the culprit. Why I don't know.

The dizziness could be medications or the infection, but mention it to your Doctor.

If your still on the antibiotic, you may want to back the Coumadin down a bit until your through. Hope this helps. :)

Sinus infections are well known for causing slight dizzy spells. When you go back to your doctor, I would mention them, though.

I don't know what it is with vision, but it certainly feels like there is some association there. Visual (optical or atypical) migraines are common before and after surgery with valve issues.

Of course, we are all getting older...

Best wishes,

Dear Lee:

I would think that your eye Dr. might be able to comment on this one. When I first started reading your thread I thought that perhaps you had had an occular clot, but after rereading the post, I don't think so, but I would get it checked out. I would also speak to the cardio about the dizzy spells. This also COULD be but isn';t necessarily, a problem.
Good luck to you - Marybeth
