Hi, i was diagnosed with having mild Tricuspid Valve regurgitation last year after having Endocarditus. Luckily i got away with having any surgery but i am still worried about the long term effects this could have on my health. My doctor seems very vague about telling me what to do/not to do and won't tell whether i will need any further treatment.

I know its not as bad as Mitral Valve regurgitation, but has anyone here got this regurgitation and if so have you experienced any problems or treatment ??

Thanks very much

Patrick

My daughter has a mitral valve replacement but due to the condition she was born with she has also been left with a mildly leaking tricuspid valve too. Her consultant told me it will never affect her and is not worth thinking about as many healthy people are walking around with mild tricuspid regurg, never find out about it and it never affects them at all! It's never affected Chloe in the slightest and I would have thought that as long as your regurg. doesnt worsen at all it should be fine. I assume they will be keeping an eye on you with echos and regular checkups to keep an eye on you?
No doubt others will be along with advice soon too

Patrick, my understanding also is that mild tricuspid regurgitation should not be a concern. I have mild regurgitation in both the tricuspid and mitral valves. My PCP, cardio, and echo technician all have told me that a large number of "normal" folks have mild tricuspid and mitral regurgitation and probably are not even aware of it. The echo sonographer told me that the only valve that lesser regurgitation would raise a flag is regurgitation with the aortic valve; that is especially something to watch...

Ok thanks for the help, ive had no trouble with it since i got out of hospital with endocarditus. Just worried if i am going to start exercise or stressing it out if you know what i mean (gmyn etc...) and is it true what they say about the cold being bad for your heart ??
