Been a problem in America for many years. Different prices at different hospitals for the same procedure. Money making with surgery.

That’s one of the reasons are health care system is broken. System makes money off of people’s health misfortunes. The only way the system will get fixed is if we have national health care that follows USPTF guidelines and stops trying to make a profit off of health care which everyone needs. The US ranks 32nd in industrialized world in health care. That’s disgusting for what it costs.

Unfortunately healthcare as well as medical science is driven by profit from investments in the U S. A state of the art medical facility with highly skilled physicians and surgeons are directly tied to the facility’s ability to make profit from its services. Unfortunately government run healthcare facilities in the U S ( VA hospitals) are nowhere near the quality of a Mayo Clinic or hospital. It’s mostly because of management and compensation of the Doctors, nurses, and technicians. Government officials are the worst managers of healthcare in any country I believe. The healthcare system in the post Covid pandemic world is near a breaking point now and many people will die because of government officials making knee jerk medical decisions. If anything good came out of the pandemic, it showed the world how I’ll prepared it was to handle a serious health crisis. Answers won’t be easy but the WHO needs to take a hard look at its response to the pandemic if it wants to regain its credibility.

I'd include the behavior of much of the general public in that condemnation too.

Is the procedure different at a mediocre hospital? They use lower quality parts? Expired drugs or sourced from shady suppliers?
I have no problems paying for quality but show me where your quality is. Don't charge me $45 for acetaminophen pill.

And for those who think government run is terrible. All major hospitals accept Medicare and that is the lowest paying customer and a major part of any hospitals revenues.
If you pay above Medicare rates, the hospital is making bang off of you. Insurance companies pay expenses in billions, pay your claims in billions, make profits in billions and return value to share holders. Yet you want to blame government payer system where you can take out profit and excess compensation if all else remains the same?

I have noticed that whenever there is an incident in NYC the perp and the officers are taken to different hospitals. Do cops know something?

its probably a funding issue ;-)

however its sad that so many officers are injured in the line of duty. I don't think police should be punching bags. Its a vexing society over there that's for sure
