There is a little girl at Guy's Hospital in London who desperately needs your prayers. She and Katie share very similar defects and are only two months apart in age; thus, they have kind of grown up online together. Bethany underwent the extracardiac fontan (Katie's next surgery along with the valve replacement) on January 26. She has suffered numerous complications, chylothorax, fenestration closing early, arrythmia problems, etc. Then she was rushed back to the OR today to take down the fontan because a clot had formed in the conduit. She is very, very critical at this point. All prayers are greatly appreciated for Bethany and her mom and dad, Jo and Dan. JO is pregnant, too, and, as you can imagine, has not been getting any sleep. I'm just sick for them. This hits way, way too close to home. Please feel free to add this family to any other prayer groups that you belong to. Thanks so much, as always. Janet

how wierd!

how wierd!

Janet - i just logged on to do that very same thing on here!

Dan is a very good friend of mine and i'm devastated at the news we are getting from him and his family at the moment and i, like Janet, would really appreciate any thoughts or prayers you could send their way!!

Bethany was extremely critical overnight and Dan and Jo were called to her at 2am this morning, following the surgeons yesterday taking down the fontan they had done only last week. Aparrently this is only the second time the surgeon has had to do that. They had to leave her chest open yesterday but are hoping to close it this morning with a view to (god willing!) redoing the fontan again in a few days!!!

She is still very, very sick and needs all the prayers she can get.

This is my latest text message from Dan and seems slightly more hopeful - although she will still have the extra cardiac fontan to be done again at some point from here on, so everything still crossed!!!!...

'Bethy continues to surprise everyone. Despite last night she is
currently OFF the pacer and running her own rhythm and rate. She is
now getting ready for chest closure. She has been responsive to us
despite the amount of drugs she is on. She isn't out of the woods, so
please keep everything coming.'

Thank you for letting us help. Bethany and her family are in my prayers.

Thanks, guys, so much.

Thanks, guys, so much.

AS Emma said, please keep them up. Emma, I guess we have been getting text messages relayed from you guys, although Jeanne, one of our PDHearters, did talk to Dan this morning. He said that they were closing Bethany's chest this morning, but the docs were optimistic, so they are trying to hang in there. I can't believe they have been there for almost a month now (I have saved all the text messages back to the 26th of January.) I'm scared for them...........and us! God, I know I so don't want to do this..........oh, well, one battle at a time. Sorry to ramble on so. Thanks and hugs. Emma, if you hear anything, please keep us posted. J.

will do Janet.
and yes, on the american lists - pdheart and hearts of hope you've been geting texts sent through from another friend of mine, Mel and also myself - we're emailing them as soon as we recieve them ourselves.

Thankyou for praying everyone!!

This is the latest from Dan...

'Chest closure went without a hitch, She is still on the vent so she can get better. Still off the pacer and doing very well. Numbers all good! Still not out of the woods! Back in PICU proper now!'

then i asked him what happens regarding more surgery for her and he replied...

'It looks like they are leaving her alone for now. They put in a central shuntto aid her circulation. We're playing it day by day for now.'

This sounds encouraging........

This sounds encouraging........

Thanks, Emma, for this news. It does sound more encouraging than previously. I just can't seem to stray too far from the computer today, just waiting for news. And I have got to break away and get to the store sometime today. We are completely out of milk. Since Katie is four, it's probably a tad bit late to start her back on the breast. :D heehee!

Keep us posted. Hugs. J.

Bethany and her family are in my prayers. I've forwarded this link to many fervent prayer warriours, pastors, and prayer groups. God is a God of miracles and I'm believing for one for this precious child. Prayer is the most powerful force on earth and there must be thousands, probably tens of thousands, of prayers going up for Bethany right now from all over the world.

Thanks Janet and Emma for the frequent updates. I know this has got to be hitting each of you incredibly hard. You're both in my prayers constantly too.

I pray God's peace to all who are anxiously praying and awaiting news of Bethany's progress.

Kay

My prayers and thoughts are with Bethany and the family! She does seem like ever the little fighter though!! I do not think there is a place yet ready for her up above. Will look fwd to updates!!

Keep them up..........

Keep them up..........

Thank you guys so much. I just knew that I could count on you. And, Kay, yes, please! Any additional prayer chains can only help. They seem to be working. Bethany is holding her own for now (see Dan's text message below). I am sure that Emma will give us an update tomorrow as soon as she gets it. Thanks again and many hugs. Janet

"We've had a quiet evening and are heading to bed on the ward so we are close just in case. Bethy is tucked in with a good rate and good pressure.

Keep those prayers coming!"

thankyou!

thankyou!

Thankyou so much for all the prayers - they do seem to be working!!!!
As Janet said Bethy was more settled last night. I don't have any more news today yet but as soon as i do, i will come on and post it here. Slightly worried theres no news yet as Dan normally sends a text by about 8.30am but it's almost 10.15am and nothing, but as he told me himself last week, consider no news to be good news!! So i will try that one for now!
