Well it is now less than two weeks away from my valve replacement and anyuerism repair. Thanks to all of you for all the help, support and education so far. Because of you I am a lot better off going in to this thing and also a lot less fearful. Notice i said "less" fearful. I still get the butterflies, and as nice as this waiting room is I am really ready to move on!. You all have said the waiting is the worst. I agree. I wanted you to know that i am having the surgery done at Med Central here in Mansfield Ohio.
I have complete confidence in the facility, the surgeon and the team who will look out for me post op. I also want you to know that i have chosen a pericardial tissue valve to replace my broken one and both the surgeon and i have realistic hope of getting twenty years of service from it. We all know "ya pays your money, and ya takes your chances" Which means each of us that has had the opportunity to make the decision about valve choice has made the decision that is best for them. I have done so and will not look back. Anyhow my friends, I wanted to bring you up to speed and I wish all good things to all of you.

Sounds like you are strolling right along on the path to the mountain. Notice the others in the shadows going with you? that's us! You just keep on strolling and when you feel frightened, just come on in and somebody is always around to give you the boost you may need. God bless

Glad to hear your comfortable with your choices. That's important. If you didn't have butterflies, you wouldn't be human. I don't care how much prep work you put into this, your still scared and anyone who says different is a liar.

You know the story from here. We'll be walking with you in and out. Remember us and come back to us and help others when they come in all new and scared as you are or once were. ;)

Hi Steve,

Yes, it does sound like you are ready. It's strange isn't it how one can feel calm and yet fearful at the same time. I'm glad you are comfortable with your choice of valve. You mentally weighed and measured and came up with what makes the most sense for you.

You did your part and now we, as members of your heart team, will cheer you on and pray you through.

Hi Steve-

Your prep work sounds about done, and you're as ready as anyone to go and get it done. As others have said, we'll all be with you.

Take care.

Ross,
To you especially for being the first one to make me welcome here, and to all of you, I thoroughly expect you all to stay with me as I go the rest of the way. What you (we) have here has made a tremendous difference in my life already, and I expect that will continue. I don't want to get overly dramatic so I will just say I think you know and hope you know what a tremendous difference you (we) make in peoples lives. Anyway, I promise you I will return the favor as I go through this and afterwards and hope not only to get to know you all a little better, but in some small way i hope I can help someone as you all have helped me.

Wellllllllll, you better or I'll have to drive over there and well er um, I don't know. My biological mommy lived in Mansfield on Sturgis. Unfortunately, she's no longer around to visit.

hi steve!
you sound so prepared for your upcoming surgery. i think the "knowing" (valve choice, especially) makes us feel so much more in control, don't you think?
i'm glad you're all set and as all have said before me, we'll all be with you.
be well, sylvia

Hi Steve,
Sounds like all systems are go and you are appropriately prepared.

Remember: Courage is not doing something without fear - courage is doing something in the face of fear.

Continue to be courageous.
