Update Teddy's Mom

Hi everyone.
I have wanted to touch base for some time now and let you know how we are doing and how many of you are doing. As you might imagine losing a child is the most difficult and painful thing I have ever experienced. We do feel blessed to have been surrounded by such loving caring people like yourselves. We still do not have the autopsy results which we were told can take up to one year. For any skiers in the group Teddy is being featured in the February issue of Powder Magazine and our local ski resort in Michigan --Crystal Mtn. is having a charity event in his honor over the Christmas holiday and is naming a ski run after him. All of his many friends continue to keep in touch and remind us how importandt Teddy was to them and will continue to influence their lives. These things do make getting through this easier. My MS has been under control and I have been feeling well. All the liver problems I experienced from the medications have resolved but I cannot be on any medications.

I do want to let people know I have a brand new INRatio that Teddy used for less than 6 months and a box of strips. Let me know if that can be of help to someone. We tried to return it to QRS but they told us it was one month too old to return. Thanks again for being such a wonderful support group and helping us through some difficult times.

Cindy, so good to hear from you. I'm glad your MS is under control and that you feel well. I think of you, your family and Teddy often.

Do you know of a way we might get our hands on a copy of Powder when it comes out? I haven't bothered to check the internet yet.

What a fitting tribute to Teddy to have a run named after him. I hope it a really challenging one, fitting of Teddy's gusto.

Happy to hear that things are going well for you. I am sure you will never get over losing Teddy but it sounds like he will be remembered by so many people and that has to help a lot.

It was so nice to see Teddys photo again. I remember following his story and I was very sad to hear of his depature. I would be interested in the INR ratio machine. We do have insurance and the claim is in the suppliers hands but they are not a providor with our insurance. let me know if you would allow me to purchase it from you.

Cindy, thank you so much for taking the time to write. You and your family have often been in my thoughts and prayers. I'm very familiar with SW Michigan and are often in that area visiting family. You have undoubtedly been through the most difficult thing a parent can go through and I'm sure will never be completely "through" it either. You have beautiful memories of a very loving and loved son! My prayer is that God will sustain you and continue to give you comfort. I am also so very happy that the MS is under control.

Hi, Cindy. Saw your new post about an hour ago and have been reading Teddy's story, via archive posts, ever since.

You and I have not communicated before, but I want to let you know that as someone who lived through adolescence, college, etc., with heart disease, and as a photographer, I am thankful that Teddy died doing what he had always wanted to do, what gave him his identity, and with his camera in hand.

I did become familiar with Teddy's story several month's ago when my son also had a Ross. I am so sorry for your loss. It seemed he had passed the point of danger and you had no forewarning of a problem! I would love to hear exactly what they say when you do get your report, if you do not mind. You had a wonderful son to be so proud of. Know that his story is still touching many people!

Thak you so much for the update, I think of Teddy and your family often.We were getting Justin his new snowboard boots the other day and I thought of Teddy. What wonderful tributes to Teddy, I can imagine how he would feel to have the run named for him. Justin is 18 now and actually today had his first appt w/ his new adult CHD specialist. I'm very happy to hear from you. You've been through such an ordeal, and it's good to read some peace in your words.

He lives in his friends, in you, and now on a mountainside. He lives here, too. There were a lot of broken hearts here when Teddy passed. He lived so well and fully that it seemed impossible for things to fail for him. We carry him with us as well.

It's good news that your MS is stable. I hope you're taking advantage of that.
