It is now eight weeks post op for my son who had the mitral valve repaired by Dr. Delos Cosgrove in Cleveland. Unbelievably to me, his recovery has been nothing less than miraculous. Today he is on a train from Berlin (Germany) to Nice, France where he is filming a friend of his conducting a children's opera choir singing the friend's composition. We have had three emails and he has not mentioned his heart. Only that he is grateful for the filming experience. can this be believed? He is still on the coumadin but without my saying anything, he is complient with instructions. We were told by more than two cardiologists in Arizona that his mitral valve was too complicated to repair. Dr. Cosgrove went about the repair as if he was changing a light bulb.
His incision is about 4 inches. Everyone is Arizona that we consulted only do
traditional 12 inch incisions. God directed our paths from day one.

Wonderful news about your

Wonderful news about your

son - he sounds like he is a strong young man - kudos to you for raising him with such a great attitude and zest for life.

As for Dr. Cosgrove - well the guy is brilliant and has a gift from God - case closed. ;) I'm so glad "Toby" (as Ross calls him - they are friends ya know) is still using his gift - as he will be retiring one of these days.

Congratulations on such a successful outcome for your son.

Same results we got (minus the coumadin). My wife is 8 months post-op and never had a single complication. She was fully recovered in 4 weeks. Her incision is 2.5 inches. We're either blessed, lucky, or simply deserving of good results after all the research we did into surgeons (or some combination of those three).
